Well, fashion is fashion I guess. While I'm not quite as conservative about these things as Vegie is, I'd be reluctant to hit the streets with the bottom of my fanny showing. BTW, I noticed your illustration of the Daisy Dukes wearer has been censored since I was here last. I guess there's a certain amount to fanny cleavage that's acceptable here at Susan's. :)

WAIT! I am NOT! conservative - I am way liberal - you got me totally wrong -

if you are going to wear clothes - wear them right! you want to show your body! do that right! I happen to be a naturist!  ;D I believe in doing things the right way.. I just think that she was being sloppy and I hate being sloppy. Slovenly seem disgusting to me - it reeks of not caring about yourself and that makes you seem low class.

Last year's sloppy tends to become this year's high fashion. Recall jeans with torn knees, boy's low-slung pants-- even faded jeans once were considered tacky. I've learned to never make presumptions.

I seem to remember $50 "shotgun" jeans.

Round and round it goes...

Hyper Color underpants will return.       Sadly.

Style over fashion.

Uhg.  Hypercolor is a fabric that changes colour with heat like a mood ring.  The early nineties saw this wonder arrive.  Unfortunately all it did was highlight your sweaty bits.
It was a fashion that deserved to die.

The following short pants were once sensational in 2006, because they were too short (25 cm length, or about 10 inch), according to some media reports here.

Now they look classical and conservative, compared to those commonly seen this summer :

I am considering wearing that way (a belt and revealing my belly slightly).

barbie~~
Just do it.

It looks like you came close with this week's avatar pic, Barbie. Your figure amazes me. Alas, I think my shorts wearing days are past.

Oh short shorts have a best before date... I think I will do the world a favour and avoid them and let barbie do us proud.

It seems odd to think of 80s fashion as vintage but according to Wikipedia the cutoff is 20 years so all the way up to 1993.  I feel old.  Anyways, I really like 80s fashion, the neon colored tights, leg warmers, Flashdance style shirts, pretty much everything except jean jackets, those I think are horrid.

*Raises hand* I'm not quite a lady, but do you mind if I chime in?

Most anything from the 1900s I'm rather fond of - be it men's or women's fashion.
Though, the '20s and '30s have my favorite styles~ Once I'm good enough at sewing, I want to try making oxford bags.  :D

There are a lot of people that are "into" dressing vintage.  Here in the Los Angeles area there is The Art Deco Society which is having an event at the Queen Mary in Long Beach Fri-Sun. on line you might want to do some lurking at www.thefedoralounge.com they have a girls section with make up, hairstyles and fashion as well as who knows.  The reset of the site is general or for the guys.

Thanks for the link. They have a really long thread there on retro hairdos. I'm going to spend some time going through that. I really love the how a lot of  younger people are into retro things like victory rolls and such these days. Personally, I've always been rather fond of hair and makeup styles of the 1960s, though I haven't done much of it myself. Years ago I did try bubble-teasing a few times. It tended to go flattish on top and really wide on the sides. Getting high hairstyles isn't easy.

Wow, that's super cute.  The platforms are a little much for me, but I love the coat.

Hi!

Love the coats in the last post :-D

I adore Edwardian fashion - the Gibson Girl look, especially the flared long skirts and hair. The stuff that working women would wear at weekends. Very elegant, gorgeous and also potentially quite practical, even for today.

Anyone else into the 1900s to 1910s' aesthetic?
There are no more barriers to cross... But even after admitting this, there is no catharsis... I gain no deeper knowledge of myself. No new knowledge can be extracted from my telling. This confession has meant nothing.

When you find yourself hopelessly stuck between the floors of gender - you make yourself at home in the lift.
