Where do sideburns end and the female hairline begin?

I will be starting facial hair removal soon. I don't really have plans to tell the removal folks my longterm intentions yet, but I wonder if I possibly should tell the laser operator. Basically, my question is in the subject. I've been trying to filter out the hair that grows in front of my ear from my sideburns. It grows pretty quick, considering how often I've shaved it off, and I'm afraid that I'll end up lasering out real hair, or leaving behind hair that I want removed. But then, most girls don't seem to have real hair growing there. But everyone's different. And... I guess I'm just worried about such a huge, life changing investment going wrong. Who can blame me?  :-\

(The medspa that I'm going to use seems to be pretty on top of things. They're not using IPL, I forget the type of laser they use, but they test the melanin content of your skin before each treatment and dial in the laser to target the hairs below the skin, the light's supposed to harmlessly pass through your skin. It'll probably cost me $1700 because I'll need a loan to start it now instead of in several more months, but I need to start building my credit anyway )

I remember someone here asking the same question a long ways back.  The best reply she got was a suggestion to look at pictures of women who have their hair up in a bun or pulled back in some way.  To narrow down the possibilities it was suggested that she look at pictures of ballerinas.

hope this helps!

The hair goes down to just were the ear attaches to the skull, but there are variations, it rarely goes beyond mid ear though. Search "updos" in google and you'll get plenty of examples.

This one shows it clearly. Mine was done at that level with electro.

I'm truly honestly beginning to think we need a separate section here called "Ask Keira" - why does she seem so, I don't know, informative & capable and I so completely helpless?

I agree, Keira may not know it but she's one of my top advisors! And I'm taking that picture with me on my first electrolysis appointment!
Best wishes, Louise

A tip that I was given was not to have a hard edge to the hair. A straight line looks like it's been shaved.

Typically, the facial hair has a different consistency.  If you can't tell the difference, chances are good that your operator will know.
