Ok first off my hair is down to collar, well the hair that I have is down to the collar.

But I have the cliche hole in the hair do at the top. And not much is expected to change there.

It is my plan to get a wig solution regardless of how difficult, because women are not expected to be bald. My heart goes out to those that suffer this trauma from health related sources.

This cut though is meant to be something I can deal with during moments when I don't have the wig on, as there is always times when you need to take the thing off I am sure. Plus I need an indoor at home relaxing look too.

I told my salon friend, to ponder some styles for me for next weekend (Saturday). I am hoping she realizes I want a woman's hair do, but I of course pointed out I realize anything she does, likely will have a hole in it.

I am just curious, any suggestions any might have?

I have essentially fine hair. My hair it tends to fly around way too easy. I need it shorter and more in control. I need a shape some sort of style that can cope with the top being essentially trashed.

Have at it girls, I need some genius offered here. Pictures would be massively appreciated too.

Uh, I don't think there exists a doable women's haircut that'll do if there's a hole in your hair. And actually, long hair probably gets in the way of having a good-looking wig. Personally I'd consider just getting rid of everything and then getting one of those high quality permanent wigs that are stuck to your scalp so that they feel like real hair.

I agree with A. Work on getting a good lace front wig. Those types of wigs are wonderful. Only pros can tell that they're wigs.

Well it really depends on the size and location of the hole. If your talking about one that's in the back like around the crown area then you may be able to pull it back into a ponytail. If your is collar length you could leave your bangs down in the front, and leave the very back down, then pull the top middle and back middle up to do kind of a top knot. If my craziness is unintelligible let me know and I can do it with my hair and take pictures. 

If the spot is in the middle, an updo should cover the spot, no?

I had MPB with a bald central area and widow peaks. Spiro and
E have helped enormously. I went to the best Salon That I could barely afford and explained my dilemma.

They looked after me ever since.

I let the colour technician go for what she thinks and I still do. She recently won first prize in the open class hair colour awards in SA. I never knew such things existed. My stylist also has free reign to do what he thinks.

They had never met a trans*woman before. I think they do love and care about me. The down side is you pay for the best with premium prices. I go every six weeks. I started with basically a buzz cut of grey fine useless whisps.

This is exactly what I do though you will need to let it grow longer. My hair goes past my bra strap. I normally wear it in a bun that covers the bald spot, but can also wear it in a pony tail. I have also worn it braided. It covers the spot completely. I will try to get a picture of it later on.

From the front and at eye level, I seem to have more hair that I do.

From behind I clearly have male pattern balding though.

From the side, well my neck size utterly trashes my appearance among other things.

I have turfed the side burns I hate side burns.

My hair currently exists in long enough form, that brushed from left to right, it covers the scalp barely enough. But also might look too desperate as well. Windy days are a pain.

The back and top are basically not really there though.

The wife has essentially preferred I keep it this way though. I'm not in a hurry to do the bald look like many men my age have conceded to.

Not sure what the hair dresser will do, but what has surprised me this recent past week, is that economically speaking, getting rid of the sex organs (being that OHIP covers the operation) might actually not be a fraction of the hassle of getting a new hair do (which I always thought would be the easiest of fights on the list ).

Clothes of course, well you never stop paying out for clothing.

Next Saturday, will be a very long day for me I suppose. It will likely take a lot of courage even for me to potentially finally confront a need to radically alter my appearance hair wise. Chances are, following the hair cut, I will probably be telling her 'make this wig look ok on me regardless of the amount of effort, and what you need to do to it, as I can't go out looking like this' (in reference to a potentially ruinous hair do). It won't be her fault of course if there is no way to give me a nice hair do like any routine cis female with a full head of hair can expect.

What is annoying, is my wife, she has normal cis female hair, and she does NOTHING to indulge it, NOTHING to look after it and following her getting a nice new hair do, she basically just lets it sit on her head with no interest at all in doing anything with it.

Lots of women have hair loss in top areas and deal with it quite well. Look into "topper" pieces. Surprisingly, the good ones often cost more than wigs do, but it's much more like wearing your own hair than a wig. For side and back volume a big loop piece works wonders and doesn't even have to be clipped in. Often hair coloring can have as much to do with having feminine looking hair as the cut. I love highlight looks, though they do make you a slave to regular touchups. Layering fine hair can cause frizzieness if you're not careful. One thing you really need to do is get on a great conditioning regime. Good conditioning over a long period can add volume and strength to the hair.

Alas, for me, I don't have the leading edge to work that way in my case.

Was going to have it down (hair do) tomorrow, but was not able to get into my friend's schedule before next weekend. Oh well it will be in time for thanksgiving meal. Hoping to take the wig I have with me, and maybe get my friend to work it into a look for me.

I have high widows peaks, receding hairline and thinning spot in the back. I went with a custom "hair system" with human hair that was matched to the colors in my natural hair.  I use special double sided tape along the front edge and clips on the sides and back, as I'm not out at work.
A fully transitioned lady that I know uses a special liquid adhesive and only removes it one a month, essentially it is part of her except for monthly hair appointments.

If you can locate a professional who deals "hair systems", especially if they are experienced with female alopecia, they should be able to supply you with a hair system that only slightly larger than your problem area.

Most of the franchise, chain or club are way over priced. The key is finding an experienced professional with skills and experience.

The old terminology for a male hair system is toupee, but that carries with it the assumption of "bad".  These are much more sophisticated and very hard to tell that you are wearing one.

If you were closer to Portland,  Oregon, USA I would ask the professional I work with set up a private appointment to meet with you and do a consultation.

Going to try the wig option, but, it seems the leading opinions favour something more custom. I suppose if my local hair dresser feels out of her depth I will need to research something more elaborate in my local area.
