Hi Cherrie,

I have been using Estrace cream to help with softening.  I am 2.5 years post-op and just started
using the cream 1.5 months ago.  I feel that the cream is having a very positive effect.
I don't really know if there will be a permanent effect.

I was given a prescription to use the product every other night.  The cream is applied deeply into the vagina using an
applicator that is provided.  The manufacturer notes say that Estrace cream is a bio-identical
estrogen.

According to my doctor the effects are localized and almost no estrogen reaches the bloodstream.
The doctor did not reduce my oral estrogen prescription.

Best wishes,
Elaina

After my SRS, there were some complications.  Among others, my folds were partially fused & overall had poor cosmetic appearance - additionally, I also had a lot of skin tightness towards the opening of my urethra [as a side note, these complications arose from other issues NOT related directly to my SRS or to my surgeon].  In any case, as happy as I was to have finally completed SRS, the actual skin and the overall area did not feel very... comfortable.

My OB/GYN ended up prescribing me bio-identical Estrace cream and allowing me to apply the cream liberally.  It was an immediate Godsend - the feelings of "tightness" alleviated, and it also immediately improved an embarrassing problem (urine getting stuck in the folds, causing a burning sensation).  After about a year of using the cream, both my OB/GYN and my partner commented that the folds now look very authentic.  I continue to use the Estrace cream, twice daily, and it helps just about all aspects - how I psychologically feel, the physical appearance, how it feels, issues of dryness etc, my urine stream, foreplay, orgasm...I could go on...

In any case, I much prefer post-op life with the Estrace cream than to the first year and half without it - that being said, I have nothing good to say about Premarin.

Good day Ladies!

Cherrie, I hope Estrace is available to you.  It has been doing very well
for me.  It is helping with elasticity and dryness.  I don't have any personal experience
with Premarin, but in my reading online I get a definite impression there are more side
effects.

Paxil, I am glad to hear that your complications are "turned around."  You
mentioned that you don't have anything good to say about Premarin.
Did you mean you don't have personal experience, or you had a bad experience with it?

Take care,
Elaina

Well, two main reasons: 1. I've heard so many bad horror stories about estrogen that is not bio-identical in nature that I would be too paranoid to try a synthetic form in the first place and 2. I just can't get over the whole pregnant mare urine thing, leave the poor horses alone.  The source of premarin is just too weird for me.  I had an OB/GYN give me a sample and insist I try it once & I just couldn't...

If you used the cream for another purpose please also share.

I use Synapause, an estrogen vaginal cream, as a facial nightcream for over 4 years now.

Works wonders! My skin is still smooth, plump en wrinkle free at the age of 51.

Hi Cherrie,

I wanted to respond earlier, but life got in the way.

It sounds like my Dr gave me a little more direction than yours.
She gave me the dosage and frequency.  When we discussed adding
the cream to my hormone mix, the purpose was to help make the
internal ring of muscle more supple.  Reading your posts, it seems that is your
goal as well.  My Dr directed me to use the applicator and put the cream in as
deep as possible.  I do use the Estrace, so the consistency maybe different
from your product.  With the Estrace it seems that it takes quite a bit of body
heat to absorb the cream.

I am in the opposite situation from you, in that a tube contains quite a bit more
than what is prescribed.  I am thinking that I may experiment with applying
a small amount externally, while maintaining the applications internally.

Best wishes,
Elaina
