I am VERY active on Facebook, and I see a lot of 'news items' as a result of some of my friends mentioning things.
I try to avoid news normally. I don't have cable, and don't want it. The weather is not important to me and I couldn't care less about sports, and presto there goes any manner of defending cable as being worth a damn.
But I see items on my Facebook.
Grrrrr some articles, they REALLY make me want to growl, and believe me, I also want to bite.
Some of the utter crap disguised too often as religiously driven dogma (often having almost no rational connection to the religion as well) really sends my hackles up in most cases.
I just read how a radio Pastor thinks Girls Guides promotes lesbian agendas. WTF?
I can just picture how it would go down if one of these mental midgets tried that to me in person.
Oh I can assure you the offender would need counseling after what I'd say back in return.
I am simply not the sort that wants to sing kumbya and wait for these people to grow up and come to their senses and leave all the hateful dogma in the past where all the rest of superstition and nonsense belongs.
My area of expertise is 20th century and the 40s. I am NOT afraid to say, I'm ok with eliminating sources of vicious hatred. And no, I am not interested in the crazy rebuttal that I would be denying 'free speech'. I don't make friends with hate mongers. And I'm willing to play by their rules and seek to wipe them out rather than it be me.
I prefer to bite back.
Look up the actual original meaning of the Hebrew notion of 'meek'. It's not the popular and incorrect notion of the weak and defenseless and downtrodden. There's nothing meek about me.
