shameless notes: "block" refers to an area of numbing effect like on an entire finger (digital block) or at the spinal level (like waist on down; epidural) as opposed to local anesthesia like before starting an IV line if the practitioner is nice.

Ibuprofen a hour before electro will reduce inflammation afterwards and having hydrated skin also reduces the downtime.

I have hated this hair for as long as I can remember. I had laser treatments in my 20's however I did not have all hair removed. I always shaved in the shower to just remove most of it to just get by when having to live & work in the male role. This is the first time in my life that I can realize that soon I will have a nice clean normal face. So I'm very excited & relieved. Still a long way to go however I think with this nice very experienced electrolysis woman we can clean off everything. I'm lucky to find her. She in determined for me to have a very nice normal feminine face.

My third visit is for Saturday, 2-3 hour session. We have not really cleaned up much of my face. I sure hope she can remove more??? We are still using cream to numb areas however it seems she has OK from local dentist for a block anytime I want ot need it, $25, such a deal. I'll find out Saturday. I'll need a block for my upper lip that's for sure.

Slow is right!  I was very tempted to reply when you said "within a few months" but decided against it.

It will end up taking me over a year by the time it's gone... And I went through 4 laser sessions beforehand to thin it out a little.

According to my electrologist, most girls will take 1 - 2 years to remove a beard depending on skin reactions and how aggressive removal is. In my case, my skin reacts so badly that I have to use lowish power... means it takes longer and is slightly less effective. I did want to complete it in only a few months, but it's just not possible. On the upside, my skin should look youthful and radiant once this is all over.

My lady is fast & she can use whatever level she needs however I've slowed her down with all my crying. We have yet to do anything with my upper lip, it just hurts too much. Luckily a dentist is close by & I'm going to have shots/a block for that area so she can finally treat it.

It seems we gossip so much & talk about life that the time goes by & we have not removed much hair. If it takes a while that is OK with me, she is close by & only charges $60 an hour for the actual time she is removing hairs & nothing to talk & visit with each other. She sees a nice face once the hairs are all cleaned up & really likes me so I guess I'm very lucky to find her. Sometime I'm going to let her wax my legs, that would be great.

Anyway I ramble a lot but good luck with your treatments & I hope you can have a nice face once your work is over. Maybe on Saturday we will not talk so much & she can slowly clean up more areas.

I couldn't stop myself from crying at my first electrolysis session, but i just thought to myself, recall how much i hate having facial hair, the frustration and the relief of it going, and that certainly helps me get through each session. It hurts for sure, but it's worth it. x

Not to give a plug for any particular electrolysis facility, but Electrology 3000 in Dallas (Google E3K Dallas) has a physician on staff who will inject your face (or wherever) with a local anesthetic to "numbify" your skin, making the treatment virtually painless, except for the injections.

They are a bit expensive, but for those of us (especially moi) who have zero tolerance for pain, they are a super exciting alternative to painful face clearing.

Oh yeah, they are really quick too...for my first face clearing session (sadly, I'm rather well endowed with facial hair) they utilized two technicians over three consecutive days, and voila, done for 8 weeks!! 

Super swollen after, but no pain during...a wonderful trade IMHO.

My electrolysis lady is not licensed to give injections so we will use a nearby dentist for injections. She has had previous clients use this process & maybe it will work for everyone. She can go fast if I will just stop crying & complaining so much. I'm not into pain, just want to look & feel nice.

I'm sure there are many electrolysis professionals who have established relationships with medical practitioners to take advantage of local anesthetic injections.  I was just impressed by E3Ks speed and their history with and compassion for the transgendered community.

Happy Zapping. That is funny & obviously so appropriate for this time of year.

Maybe others are close to this clinic, will notice your post & will use this professional electrolysis service. I'm in the mountains of North Alabama & am very glad & lucky to find this lady. She is making all efforts to help me improve & we have become good friends.

I would agree with that.  I only needed chin, upper lip, and slight side burns done.  It took about 26 hours to get to full clearance, but nixing the regrowth took a year.

I hope you don't mind me asking, but did you have quite dense facial hair in those areas?

I use Electrolysis 3000 and can highly recommend it.Of course I live in New Orleans so it is only a 500 mile drive,so traveling there is no real problem.

Today was a nice day. This was my third 2-3-4 hour visit with nice electrolysis lady. We cleaned up a lot of area & the sting is getting easier. We do plan to use a block/shots from a dentist 3 blocks away for my upper & lower lip areas. Several of her women clients have used this dentist so I should be no different. We will have to schedule this for the week after Thanksgiving during the week.

Oh & she has a man friend that has interest in me. She says he's tall & attractive & well endowed so maybe. She is trying to be nice & play match maker. It works for me maybe later as I look better.

For new girls just starting electrolysis. It's not that bad, it's just slow, any teck can only treat a decent area, maybe 2 inch square on each visit depending on how long you can stay relaxed. From her a one inch square of facial area can have up to 100 hair folicles so it takes time to kill each one.

Having my own machine and doing it myself I can say the pain for the most part is no big deal at all. There are just a couple spots such as under your nose that are sensitive. What is nice about the machine is it has so many adjustments that you can turn the power down and make it more tolerable. Usually if you turn the power down you increase the exposure time.

I noticed someone said vicodin, and that it didn't work well. but I wonder about morphine...... hmmm I don't need much if at hardly any but still would like to get some that is there removed, I have morphine so fig'd I'd do as kariann said and go in high as a kite

For some reason I was surprised by the pain when she was clearing my upper lip.  Why surprised? An excellent question, given the probes sticking into my pores with electric current flowing through them... But somehow I let her spend 2 hours on my upper lip *without even lidocaine.* now that I have a month of E in my body       there is no possible way i can tolerate it.  I wish laser were suitable for blonde hair....

Infraorbital Nerve Block will give you all the pain relief necessary for regional facial electrolysis. Using a ring syringe and lidocaine, the doctor uses a 25-27 gauge needle. Have fun!

That's an extremely good point Jess...

Having experienced electrolysis with T & no T, just wow!. My pain tolerance is virtually non existent without T... When I first started, I could tolerate much higher currents and longer sessions than I can now. A good reason to get started on electrolysis early!

On another note, I've just bought my own electrolysis machine ( one touch ) to clean up whatever remains. I expect to be doing that for a long time to come .

I wanted to let the electro lady use lidocaine & make her own small injections. This is what she wants to do. However I could not find a source to purchase lidocaine.   Does anyone have any idea where I can purchase lidocaine direct?  If you do please advise/post & thank you so much.
