I'm trying to get the courage up to get my own pretty underwear. Any suggestions? I'm so sick of boxers

Hi Kayla,  The first panties that I naught were from the internet as I was to embarrassed to go to the store to get them but the problem that I found was the sizing,  if you have a girlfriend who knows of your dysphoria you could go shopping with her as it takes the attention away from you in the ladies section.

After a while you will get more comfortable going into the ladies section to buy underwear as far as anyone knows you could be there buying a gift for your girlfriend.

Best if luck

Thanks Emily. Unfortunately I do not have a girlfriend who knows of my dysphoria :-\

I would recommend getting some cheap cotton panties from Wal-mart or Amazon or somewhere.  Order online if you're shy about shopping in the store, but it's really no big deal.  Just remember that you have every right to shop for and buy whatever lingerie you like.  There is nothing to be embarassed about.

So I would get some cheap panties at first in a few different styles and sizes around your size.  Remember that you can't usually return underwear if the packaging is opened though. ;)  Once you know your size and the style you prefer, you can get some nicer pairs.  And while you're at it, why not get some bras and anything else that catches your eye?  Just a thought :)

Here's a link to some random sizing chart: http://www.mycamila.com/sizechart.html.

Good luck and try to have fun!

 Thanks for the advice Marissa,
The only reason I have problems with being embarrassed is that I'm still in high school and live at home. How can I get them washed?

I guess you either have to do laundry when no one else is home or hand wash them in the sink maybe?

There are a couple of companies that distribute through Wal-Mart that make male bikini briefs. They are pretty much panties, but are "masculine" because they only come in solid and basic colors i.e. black, blue, and red. I have a few pairs and I feel quite feminine while wearing them.

Where do I find those?! I saw them once and I've looked but I couldn't find them again. I still would like women's tho :-\

Yep ^.  Same thing.  I started wearing them and they are wonderful.  I just said I needed the extra support that boxers don't provide.  Then, they go in with the regular wash and there are no questions.  I got mine at Walmart.

To move forward is to leave behind that which has become dear. It is a call into the wild, into becoming someone currently unknown to us. For most, it is a call too frightening and too challenging to heed. For some, it is a call to be more than we were capable of being, both now and in the future.

I usually see them between the boxer briefs and tighty whities, but I do know that most Wal-Marts have individual set ups. Good luck!

I never understood the fascination with underwear. I only started wearing a bra because I pretty much have to. But I do like fashion and if your in high school your'll be 18 soon and can start HRT if you want and life will be beautiful and so will you. Then you'll be embarrased about going in the men's section. I love shopping.

I go to either Kohl's both in store and online. My favorite brand is Candie's. Pretty, frequently on sale, holds male parts well, and durable. Also Amazon is a great place to go as well.

I think the Jockey "Elance" bikini's will prove to be a good solution.  They look and feel like women's cotton panties, but are sold for men.

They are currently on sale for half price with free shipping.

My daughter accidentally brought home some of her college roommate's panties in her laundry for my wife to wash, and they ended up in my underwear drawer.

Still they are men's underwear so no one should complain about cross-dressing.  You have plausabile deniability!

Kayla, before you know it your orders will be showing up in the mail and you will do a happy dance as you open the package :)

I like the styles and fit of pretty things from SOMA.com

btw, if you are hesitant to have items delivered to your parents home where you live you can easily open a Post Office box or mailbox at a nearby UPS store or similar place. You can also easily buy pre paid VISA cards to order things online if you don't have your own bank account and card.

Good luck sweetie! I wish I could have come out when I was your age! But that was a whole different era and a long time ago.

Hehe, my first pair was actually a black thong with pink lace lol. I got a matching bra too. It was technically for a halloween costume (uh huh, never wore them with it xD ) so I felt I had every right in the world to buy them. Walked confidently into Walmart, picked them out, and bought them feeling quite proud of myself! Didn't wear them much, and I too was paranoid about washing them but finally did a couple times without incident. The thong didn't really offer much support, but I felt pretty wearing it under my jeans out in public. :D

I actually bought my first pair of panties a few weeks ago... I bought them online because I still don't have nearly the confidence I'd need to actually walk into a store and buy them. It was weird, because originally I was going to just buy regular men's underwear, but when I started looking at them I got all depressed, and then I saw the link to women's underwear tempting me from the corner of the screen... Well, what I ended up buying were just some nondescript black panties, but I'm still glad I did it. Next time, something with stripes I think... Anyway, just order them online along with something else that won't draw attention (socks or something), so that if anyone asks what you ordered you have something to tell them.
