I de-transitioned after 13 happy and successful years as a "woman"

Detransitioned

I have been transitioning back to being a man for the past three months. The process is confusing at times but it's going extremely well.

After 40 years of feeling inside that somehow I was really a woman, furtively cross-dressing, and generally living with the usual characteristics of late-transitioning M2F transsexuals, I transitioned. I took estrogen for 13 years. I had an orchiectomy. Everything was going fantastically well and I was very happy in my life as a "woman." Now I'm 53. In July of this year, I stopped taking estrogen out of concern for my cardiovascular health. In late August, I began my de-transitioning.

A few months ago, I would NEVER have considered de-transitioning. I would have said it was impossible. However, it's definitely happening now and I feel great. Some of you may like to read what I've written about my process: http://m2f2m.wordpress.com/about/

Take care.

so according to what you wrote you don't consider mtfs real women because (and i quote): "Men are men. They don't (and cannot) become women. "Feelings" and "beliefs" do not equate to biological reality and lived socialization & experience that males can never know.

It is delusional and incorrect to believe that by going through medical manipulations, or even just by saying so, men can become women."

Let me ask you: Why did you bother coming here? It sounds rather anti-trans, don't you think?

Hi, good for you.

Are you a woman ? You decided to go back to the body you were born in, and live as woman that looks a man, or are you saying that you were never a woman ?

Can you explain what estrogen was doing to your "cardiovascular health"?

It is understandable that I now have very strong views on the topic. Is the purpose of this site to promote and reinforce an absolutely pro-transgender agenda, or is it to discuss all social, psychological and physical aspects of being transgender? With my experience, I certainly have standing to speak on the latter topic.

It just so happens that I no longer believe in "gender identity." Men may have feelings and beliefs about being "women," but it's not as simple as that.

The O.P. will need some sort of hormone to replace either T or E (or R or F)   ;)

Why did you post this on here then? I mean, most people will not want to hear this. Actually i think it is kind of insulting. The women on this site ARE women and NOT men feeling like women or thinking like women.

Thanks. I was born male. I lived as a boy and man for 39 or 40 years. I transitioned to become a woman. I lived as a woman for 13 years. Now I am a man again!

When you take estrogen, there is an increased risk of blood clots, which can lead to stroke. The risk is increased when sitting for long periods. I travel a lot, often on 6-12-hour flights, so I was worried. Also, I fainted briefly when I stood up too quickly. My friend pointed out that since I'd had an an orchiectomy and had 36D breasts, there was no need for me even to take estrogen -- why not play it safe. So I went off estrogen.

You are free to believe what you want to believe and I hope the path you're on leads to true happiness for you.

However, putting the term gender identity in quotes and calling many of us "women" is highly offensive and hurtful for those of us who truly are women. You decided that transitioning was the wrong move for you but for most of us, it's not.

Please try to be sensitive to other people's feelings and not force your opinion as absolute fact.

I'm not trying to insult anyone. Most people here may not want to hear this, but they don't have to read this thread. Some people here may not yet have drank the whole pitcher of kool-aid, and may like to know that it's all right to a) return to being male or b) not travel along any further on the transgender superhighway.

for most of them it is not all right, because being a "male" (or "female" for the transmen on here) felt wrong for them and made many of them suicidal too. They CANNOT return to being male, they never truly were and for most of them, they have "travelled" enough on the "trans superhighway" to be happy. You're acting like they're repressed for not detransitioning.

Took me a second! I was busily typing "what are R and F?" when it hit me.

Late on the uptake is the best kind of laugh.  ::)
