Being on an express train home from the city before realising I had a dinner with some art associates...in the city. Now on a return train back to the city, a full fifty minutes on trains to go nowhere!

It's going to cost $500 for the flight alone to get to the city where I'd need to go to court for a name and gender change request.

No car, and it's all the way from Michigan to Southern California. Way too far to drive. Bus and train would take far longer than I'd actually have to be there.

I was born in California. I have to go to the county where my birth certificate was issued.
Found $350, but it'd still mean getting bus tickets to get to Detroit from here, and from LAX to there.

Look on the bright side then, at least it's one of the easier places to change it!

Very true, very true.
It's $50 round trip for each bus too, so total of $450. It's expensive, but has to be worth it.

Like 15 minutes ago I went into the other bedroom to give my little sister a good-night kiss. My mother was watching some crappy hungarian series on the TV. As I walked in, the actors were just making kinda harsh jokes about a transwoman in the series and my mother was laughing her ass off, then she looked at me and asked "Why do you look so grim?" I just looked at her so she continued "Anyway, I just can't understand these perverted people, these transsexual filth. They are like the jokes of society, don't you think?" Now this is what made me unhappy today.

Just was watching an old episode of NCIS, one of my favourite TV shows, where in this episode, a former Navy officer, who was a transsexual, was suspected of murder in a cold case, but also suspected to have been dead, but in actuality, faked his death to become a woman, in which she lived for three years under a new name, and killed a federal agent who was pursuing an old cold case pertaining to the old him. The references made like "getting your plumbing turned inside out" "she is a he" "he's not a woman yet, the surgery was scheduled for next month in Bangkok" and "tonguing a guy" severely angered me. Not to mention the fact that they used transsexualism as a way to avoid a past crime.
I love the show, I just don't know if I can watch it without feeling contempt anymore.

Can we seriously keep trans people out of crime shows until the writers figure out a plot besides dead prostitute/hiding from prosecution?

Well, dunno. I just watched yesterday's Two and a Half Men. It featured a transwoman and - okay, it's a comedy, but still - all that was pointed out is that she used to be a dude and she was... dunno, behaving all manly. It kinda makes a joke on all of us. Just because we have/had a penis... Ehh, whatever, I'm too messed up right now for this.
