Joss Whedon is actually very good, but they don't give him the resources he asks for to make the movies what they could and should be. Thor 2 was as good as the first, but it could have been a smasher with a little more money.

I saw Dallas Buyer's Club today, it was wicked good! One of the best movies I've seen.

And Rayon is gorgeous.

Saw the first one and really loved the way Jennifer Lawrence seems so comfortable in her own skin and self assured and projects it so remarkably. I intend to catch the sequels.

Currently watching the director's cut of Alien just to kill time and have some background noise while doing some coloring.

I just finished watching Identity Thief. I thought it was funny, but not enough to go see it in the theater, glad I waited for cable.

Friday night I saw I'm a Cyborg, but that's OK. It's a Korean dark romantic comedy. So weird. But I rather enjoyed it, although, often like life, it was hard to tell the difference between reality and fantasy at times.

I have to agree with you, but. I personally think that this is an action-driven movie. The thing is just that the action is mainly inside Katniss, the main plot IS Katniss. Not the things that happen, just Katniss. She is the plot. We have to watch as she develops as a character, as a protagonist, as a heroine. I have to admit, this is more interesting then watching people butcher each other - it gives me more adrenaline occassionally.
Also, what is maybe even more important, finally - in the whole THG trilogy, both books and movies - we get a real heroine. Katniss is a woman, in every sense of the world. Most of the female heroines in action - or any other, for that matter -, movies are either all masculine, or so totally stereotypically female that it hurts, all they do is trying to seduce every moving living creature to do their bidding. I'm so tired of that sh*t. Katniss, on the other hand, is real. She feels real, she seems real, and she is. She doesn't have to be a gorilla or a seductive, manipulative b*tch to operate. No, she just goes on, she deals with everything, keeps breathing and even develops. Learns. Loves. Feels.
For me, this is the absolute best factor of this trilogy and this movie also. *worships Katniss*

Good commentary Shelly! Once again I think no-one would pull it off as well as Jennifer Lawrence, she seems to just exude those kinds a qualities and is someone that I admire as more of a well rounded ideal of a woman.

"Mental" with Toni Collette. That woman is a phenomenal actress, I love the person she plays in this hilariously goofy film!

Pacific Rim - it wasn't too bad for a big dumb monster flick, had a couple of quite remarkable action scenes but was overall rather predictable and didn't offer much in the way of new story concepts. I did enjoy it for what it was though.

Also those two "Australian robot pilots"? Worst Australian accents, ever.

'Prisoners': A 2013 crime drama starring Hugh Jackman and Jake Gylan(I'm too lazy to google how to spell his name)hall. It now sits as one of my favorites for 2013. While it is slow paced it is a good story with great actors.

'The Family': A 2013 Mafia centered comedy starring Robert De Niro and Michelle Pfeiffer about a mob guy who narcs on his boss and ends up in the witness protection program with his wife and kids. I really enjoyed this one. It had a good share of laughs and the characters were all entertaining. I rarely watch a movie more than once but I am sure I'll revisit this one again.

I'm looking forward to seeing it Liam, we don't get it in Australia until Boxing Day...
Think I'll re watch the first one just before I catch the second instalment.

I watched Now You See Me the other day. Have to say I enjoyed it a lot, some cool magic and great action sequences. It was a bit hard to work out where my sympathies should be though, none of the characters were particularly nice or sympathetic (except the very pretty French Interpol agent) but all the pieces did fall together in the end and I was happy with the conclusion, as ludicrous as it was!

Disney's Frozen. It is the best ever Disney movie, period. A total queer movie with heroines that have actual deep and realistic personalities and the main plot isn't about some brainless romance with a 2-dimensional simplification of a guy, but the connection and relationship that the two girls share.
The CGI is really great, the snow and Elsa's magic is so beautiful I just wanted to crawl into a hole and weep for a day or two.
Also I'm so much in love with Elsa, she's the most tragic and loveable princess of Disney ever. Not to mention her huge gay. *fangirl mode ON*
Ohh, almost forgot, the soundtrack is awesome. I'm wearing 'Let it go' down to rags for a good few days now, first Demi Lovato's version and now, since the moment I watched the movie, Idina Menzel's. It's really well written, well sung (and it's a total coming-out song btw).
OHH AND OLAF. Now Olaf is absolutely hilarious, setting a new standard for funny guys after Donkey. But really, if everyone had an Olaf there would me no more wars! 
So, 5/5 for me, maybe 5/6

Finally, i saw Oz, The Great & Powerful (or Great & Powerful Oz, i don't remember) last night.

Anyhoo... AMAZAZING!!! I loved every single second of it! Highly recommended to any movie lover.

'Out of the Furnace', Horribly slow. I thought it would be a lot better than it was with Christian Bale and other big names but no...it was bad.

'Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows 2', Aweeesome. I didn't get around to finishing the series for my own reasons. Glad I finally did.

'The Sound of Music', Wife was watching it on tv. Always an oldie but goodie.
