General Electric (GE) now has a 100 rating on the Human Rights Equality Scale.  That means that they have policies protecting GLBT (yes including T), offer the same benefits for same sex partners and as of next month cover transgender medical care including GRS.
I've been on the GLBTA education committee here for the last year and have to say that management has been wonderfully receptive and supportive.  I'm proud of GE.
I always wanted to be someone.  Now I am someone.  It just isn't me.

This is great news!

Is it just me, or does it seem like more companies are finally realizing GLBT people can be very good employees?

If I may make a statement...
As an employee of a Ge machine shop, I would like to point out that there is a fairly large gap between what is said and what actually happens.
There was a transgender awareness day recently where people were to wear green in awareness of transgenderedness. And while to a small degree, some people in the office did wear green, no one in the shop wore green. And those that did was "on accident" when they were confronted by other co workers. I didn't participate in the event, just to avoid the scrutiny. The comments made by some of my co workers weren't the nicest things you could say. And unfortunately, my workplace is one of my biggest fears of transitioning due to just a high number of people who just don't understand. I understand that my work environment is mainly "blue collar", and a lot of the people there are old time crusties who will be retiring in a couple years. Maybe things will change as they file out.

Just beware. Big companies like GE can say whatever they want because people won't look into it. Most of them are saying things to look good in the public eye. I'm sorry to sound so cynical
And maybe it's just my facility, but who knows.

On the flip side... If what you're saying is true, then that's actually prety exciting. And I do hope it is corporate-wide
Dude, do you even normal?
