Being sick interferes with your sense of taste. Everything has a weird, bitter taste to it.

TIL that putting my alarm clock (phone) in the lounge part of my suite will wake up my hotel neighbors too. Oops.

I learned that in the end the love you take is equal to 42 (or was it the love you make? help me out here please!)

In the end, the love you take and the love you make are equal. It is the Abbey Road property.

I learned that if you're selling $5 million or less in securities, you fall under the SEC "small business exception" ('33 Act, Sec 3(b)). That encompasses Regulation A (which mimics '33 act's section B registration requirements, but its a more limited disclosure document) and Regulation D which encompasses Rules 504, 505, and the Sec 4(2) safe harbors.

Orchids are named after testicles. The shape of the root looks like a testicle (apparently...)

"Orchidectomy" is also a valid spelling for orchiectomy.

I learned that I desperately need voice lessons. The "normal" female note is in my unreachable range in between normal and falsetto. I can make it work if I speak softly, but trying to project tonight at a hockey game was miserable; I'm pretty sure I gave myself away.
But at least I look OK, a group of Brazilian students, who I had met several times before, asked me to take their picture (I was the only one left in the row behind them) and didn't recognise me.

I learned that sometimes it will not matter the least how far you've come, how much you've endured, how much you know now, how much you understand. There will always be that one person who doesn't agree with you, so they'll label you as an inexperienced child who'd seen nothing.

"My nails are a bit too long but I'll wait clipping them until tomorrow and rather be careful" usually means broken nails and lots of pain.. darn those fragile things :(

I learned that if you eat 3 cups of cooked beef in the span of 6 hours, you probably won't be able to digest it.

All males must register for the draft by the age of 18 unless born before 1960. You ask for federal money, they check if you registered.

You have a very militaristic country down there :(
  •

LordKAT

Some countries require military service, not just registration. This started about 25 years ago in the US. It seems stupid when you realize that they can get all the same info from your social security account which is also federal and links all your records.
