okay. so. i was wondering about the benefits of nair because due to financial restraints i wont be getting electrolysis for a while.

so. anyone have any experience with it cause it seems like its too good to be true.

Many people find Nair works well on the body, but test a section first to make sure you do not have a reaction.

Never use Nair or other caustic hair removal products on your face. If they get in your eyes they will blind you.

Most if not all of these products have a caustic material as the means to remove the hair, some people can develop an allergy to them over time and the manufacturers do post warnings, but some times in our enthusiasm we forget.

Getting them in your eye is essentially the same outcome as getting an acid in your eye. As soon as it is done the damage occurs before you can get treatment.

Veet, a very similar product, kept my arms and legs relatively hair free for a week to 10 days. I never tried it on my chest, but I plan to once I return to school, where I left the bottle.

And to add on to what Cindy said; the skin in the face is also more delicate, these chemichal hair removal products can not only blind you if you get it in your eyes, but also does not do well for the skin either. You're better off just shaving with a razor.

I bought a tube of Veet, but I couldn't bring myself to use it. I ended up buying and epilator. It doesn't work quite as well, but I'm not afraid of it the way I am the chemicals.

I made the mistake of not reading the warnings before using these products and went gun ho and smothered it on my private region lol boy did it hurt I couldn't wash it off fast enough and then spent the next hour with a packet of frozen peas on it.  WON'T be doing that again

I've used both Nair and Veet with no negative reaction but I would rather shave or wax. They are very strong nasty chemicals and I just didn't like the way they felt on my legs and arms.

Nair works for me.

They do have special bikini nair, which really does work well down there.

They also make facial nair but it does not work on my man beard.

Every form of hair removal has its ups and downs. Nair is no exception. It will burn if you are not careful, or are allergic... and the burns suck. But compared to wax burns and razor nicks, it can be negligible if you can handle it. If you can't, it will be like burning in Hell.

It works for me. I prefer it in fact. But I understand why I am in the minority.

I love the Nair with Aloe. I can use it once a week if I want but because of the light color of my hair, I don't really need to do it more than once a month.

No depilation cream (Veet, Nair, etc.) will work on masculinized facial hair. If you can't afford electro for a bit, plucking works but hurts like hell. If you've got dark hair, it may be the only way to get rid of the larger pores. Unfortunately, you'll risk ingrown hairs with that method.

As others have said, nair works fine for removing body hair.  If you want to seriously reduce and remove facial hair, you will really need to save up for laser or electrolysis.  Since I've started laser, my beard shadow is finally reducing.  Luckily I'm the right skin type for it.  It sucks that everything is so expensive, but I don't think there really is a decent cheap alternative to remove facial hair.

nair works well for me. however i spoke with a girl who had rashes after using it. like the above poster , test it on a small patch of skin first.. also, the instructions say that

You can get beard removal cream.  It's like nair but for your face.  Still don't get it in your eyes but.....really that's the same thing with hair dye and that's closer to your eyes than where most people have hair on their face ...I don't see what the big deal is.

I buy it at Walmart for like $5 a bottle. Works great for facial hair and pubic hair.

nair has always worked well for me. i use it only on the lower half of my body but i have never had any problems. first test a small area to see if you might be allergic and otherwise do not leave it for more than a few minutes at a time as it will redden skin. my hair does not grow back quickly or much so i don't use it too often. i find a close shave is sufficient, just remember to exfoliate before as it helps to prepare for a more effective removal of in-grown hair and always moisturize afterwards. your skin will then be smooth and ready for hose! one of the best feelings...
by the way, has anyone had any experience with braun's silk-epil 7? i am considering buying it but it's expensive and i'd like to know if you ladies think it is worth it? my experience with older generations of said depilator was not so great and that's why i reverted to depilatory creams and good old fashioned shaving. thank you so much for your input.
