I'm really freaking out.  I've NEVER had a date for valentines day.  and well I love this girl so much I was sure she would dump me.  or something would go wrong. Only now,  I need to plan the second half of the day and I have never done this.  And I was so sure I would be hurt again, that I didn't plan.  HELP!

Dinner at a nice restaurant followed by a trip to a comedy club or a jazz bar or something like that might work. Congrats on the date btw.

Ask her what she'd like to do. I've only been in a relationship over Valentines Day once, and that was a long time ago. We had a nice time, planned it out together. Personally Valentines is massively overrated but if one's partner has expectations about it there's not much you can do about that. If you don't know what her expectations are you're going to have to fish for clues or as outright. Oh, and, congrats!

First thing baby is relax! One thing life has taught me is spontaneous things without a lot of planning are much more enjoyable. Otherwise you feel like you have to keep a schedule or something. Instead of a lot of planning meet up and see what sounds best for dinner. Your craving for a certain food may change before you get there. Then walk or drive around and see what catches your attention. It could be a play, movie, a club or whatever. Keep it loose and go with the flow. Have fun instead of worrying about the logistics of it. YOU are the reason she is going out, not the itinerary. Have a great time baby! Let us know how it went. :)

No, dear. You're a valuable human being. She is lucky to have your company on a special day. Of course you're going to plan a special date for her (the fact that you're there will make it special if nothing else will), but that is just ONE OF THE MANY REASONS why she is lucky to be dating you.

As for what to do with her, I can only say what's right for me, which would be along the lines of what Ms Grace said.

I'm all about togetherness. I'd plan the date together. Ask her what she wants to do.
Have you read my short story The Eve of Triumph?

I could cook lobster.  Well if I have instructions....   Ok how does this sound?  I live in a beach town, and there is a margaritaville, and a Hilton both with good restaurants in them.  how romantic would it be to spend the evening at a nice restaurant then spend the night at a really nice hotel?

She says she wants us to surprise each other.  But I.... Ok she shot that down, the hotel.  BUt ok must go see if I can find something nice I can make.  see if thats doable.

I'm more of a personal intimate person so I would be the type to cook and stay away from the crowds. Filet mingon like stephaniec mentioned with a nice bottle of Chianti and soft candle light at you home would be perfect. You could even cut and shape the filets into hearts if you wanted to be creative. Then after that go out. Besides trying to get a reservation at a trendy or intimate restaurant this close to valentines may be a little tricky.

Ok that doesnt sound half bad.  How do you handle,  well you start cooking and what does your date do while you cook?  or um?  I've had less that 20 dates in my whole life.  hmmmm.

I would try to find a classy restaurant and make a reservation if possible. Or cook her a dinner?? Awesome home meal followed by a night on the town? (if you're in a city) just spending time together..Go for a nice walk somewhere scenic. if all else GO DANCING!! that's always fun. Also you could go ice skating as well or maybe karaoke? lol idk last minute stuff is tough. I'd just keep it simple but thoughtful if I was in your situation.

Funny, I am cooking filet mignon for Valentines. I thought I was being unique.

Mmmmmm... lobster!

It is not a date! It is a special day for both of you. Set the mood. Dim the lights. Play some Barry White.

Let her drink some wine while you cook. You can talk and cook can't you?

That sounds like a perfect valentine's day dinner. Now all you need is a romantic movie to cuddle up to after you eat. :) Oh! and popcorn or something yummy to munch on.  :)

Get yourself a small jar or can of Hollandaise Sauce for the asparagus.  I like Aunt Penny brand.  I usually find it at the store near the mustard, ketchup, and mayonnaise.  You just need to warm it up.

Flowers, nice touch.

I have a "Surf & Turf" planned - steaks and lobster tails.
