Do any of you have experience with hair extensions? I don't want to have to wait so long for my hair to grow out. Right now I've got a full head of hair, no balding, it's just short. Down to my eyes or so. I want long, at least shoulder lenghth hair.

Are extensions tacky? Do they improve your passability? Have any of you had success or failure with them?

One of my sisters uses them. She got real human hair ones (be careful, as they can be animal hair if they are cheap). She got them matched to her hair colour and they look real. They lasted her about four months before they needed tweaked in places. Her hair was at her cheekbones, so the ones she got are short ( added length to just below her chin). They are attached at the roots of her head so they look good. You can also buy clip on ones, but they look bad after a while as they become like a frizzy cheap wig.

How much did they cost her? Also, do you know if there was a lot of maintenance involved to keep them good looking?
