This week when I was on the phone and did not mention my name, He called me mam. I almost always get gendered female until I tell them my  name and I have no voice training. Does this happen sometimes  to you gals.

Never happened to me. We don't do that normally in Sweden. But mostly it happens that they are getting quiet a few sec at the other end of the phone when I mention my name.

That's funny, early in life I would get upset when I called & the other person identified me as female & I had to correct them I was male.

Now since older, most identify me as male over the phone, I smoked too many cigarettes I guess which was so stupid. Do Not Smoke GF's.
mtF, mid 50's, always a girl since childhood, HRT (Spiro, E & Fin.) since 8-13. Hormone levels are t at 12 & estrogen at 186. Face lift & eye lid surgery in 2014. Abdominoplasty/tummy tuck & some facial surgery May, 2015. Life is good for me. Love long nails & handsome men! Hopeful for my GRS & a nice normal depth vagina maybe by late summer. 5' 8", 180 pounds, 14 dress size, size 9.5 shoes. I'm kind of an elegant woman & like everything pink, nice & neet. Love my nails & classic Revlon Red. Moving back to Florida, so excited but so much work moving

Yes I got this many times early in my transition....even though I thought my voice stunk. The reason I would know is that when I answered they would always ask for him....back then I would have to say this is him....now when I get the few rare phone calls that ask for him, I just say he's not available.

It's funny because today I got one of those calls....I answered and they asked for him. I was a little surprised today since my voice is very hoarse from a chest cold so I wouldn't of been surprised if they asked if I was him right off.

This happens to me very consistently. I'm usually gendered female on the phone unless the person on the other end has a reason to call me otherwise, like if I'm calling the electric company or something where they have my info already. It boosts my confidence a little bit each time it happens :)

I suppose I'm kind of lucky that I have a fairly high voice (high tenor, almost counter tenor). My friends have told me that I have a pretty gender neutral voice and that I shouldn't have anything to worry about in that department, well, unless I drop into my lower register, which does happen from time to time lol So as long as I'm mindful of that I should be good :)

its pretty awesome the first few times you're gendered correctly... A nice confirmation that my hard work finally paid off with my voice training

My last awkward moment on the phone was when I had to cancel an appointment and the lady kept asking me if I was "his" gf. I repeatedly told her that I was the same person for the appointment and it just didnt register to her. So I ended up telling her I was trans and hadn't done the name change yet. Thus started the awkward phone silence that lasted for a few seconds which seemed like an eternity lol. She replied with an OH and finally canceled the appointment. I really can't wait to do my name change so these awkward moments stop happening..
