Two Bodies/Same Soul

For the love of God please tell me I at least somewhat pass...Forgive me the dazed look as I was slightly hung over. :/

I am so lucky to be where I am! :)

I've found that the only way to get a straight objective answer is to actually ask covertly in a cis gendered mainstream forum like over at makeuptalk

That would be like real world honest feedback.

I see this thread as more of a place for gentle positive encouragement rather than flat out criticism.  That is, the focus is not so much on the "do I look female" as the "could I look female".  It's the place for works in progress, or those who just don't necessarily want to adhere to traditional feminine beauty standards (which are hard enough for cisgender women to live up to, let alone us.)

That said, I'm also for unreserved and honest criticism, but I'd be inclined to provide it only when explicitly invited to do so.  I wouldn't necessarily see a photo in this thread as automatically implying permission to write blunt words of criticism, but instead words of positive reinforcement and encouragement.

The title is misleading though!  Perhaps renaming it to something like "How am I doing?" might help?

Looking great Danniella. Your filling out nicely. I'm about like you with my boobs. Yes they're growing and have rounded out but they're still small. My biological Mom wasn't that big so I don't expect I'll be more than a B cup at the most. But they're all naturale and mine all mine, and I'm proud of them so far.

You really are blooming girl. I can't wait to see photos of you after you've been on hrt for a year or more. And wait til that hair grows out!! I'll have finally posted some of me before then as well. I plan to post them at the 6 month mark.

Thanks :D I can't wait for the next year to come. I just want to fast forward the next 12 months and have the final (or near enough final) results! I am dyyyyying for my hair to grow as fast and healthy as possible, having been trying everything short of injecting mirical grow into my scalp to accelerate the process. I even considered just getting extensions to jump straight to the long hair stage, but they are actually pretty expensive, and really bad for your hair -sigh- so I guess I will just need to wait for nature to take it's slow meandering course -.-;

Yeah you got it. Definitely looking feminine. I won't say it if I don't mean it. You are passing!
Thanks <3

Next big thing I really need to work on? Voice :S
You say "Using humor as a defence mechanism" like it's a BAD thing!

Could I pass one day?

I have no hips, a thick waste and, the most difficult thing to overcome, a very masculine jaw/forehead/nose.

This photo taken 3 months post HRT.

Not bad for 3 months. :)  I'm pretty sure the hips and the waist will all level out in time.  Your face does have some masculine qualities but so do genetic females.  With the right hair/makeup and some time, I'm sure you will be fine.  I like the outfit and I can't wait to see how you progress!

I'm glad to hear that people think my photos look passable! I feel like this is a good sign that I'll do even better once I'm done with HRT and FFS. Thanks all!

Just before HRT!

These are some shots that I have made. Probably I will start HRT in a few weeks. This is so my "normal"
male body. I have just grown my hair a bit but I have yet to find a good way to style it.

The second outfit (with the blue Provencal skirt) was a bit of experiment  :-\, sometimes I do these experiments
and I try to see the people's reactions... but I am well "tolerated" in this town and I am usually gendered correctly.

Regarding the recent "issue" I am looking for honest criticism, I know that I do not "pass", but I also know that
I usually blend because I live a normal life as Marina in this local town and people treat me gently. So a mixture
and encouragement and criticism.

Riversong,

I think your attitude and confidence will be more critical in passing than your appearance. Here in my hometown, nearly everybody watches me whether they know I am a dad or not. Most people accept and regard my expression of femininity, once they know that it is not just a hobby or a queer thing, but I am serious about that. Passing is actually meaningless to me.

Always be confident.

barbie~~

Thank you for your advice! I wish I had your confidence (which shows from your pictures) :) I just can't feel confident unless I feel like I look good. Probably a vanity thing, unfortunately, not something that can change. So I guess I'll just have to do everything I can to increase my confidence, and I'll get there eventually...

I think you look 100% passable! You actually look spot on like a friend of my mom's. In fact if I didn't know better I'd think you were sisters.

Pretty good for only 3 months Caitlin. On the hips, give them "mones" time to work their magic. Your hair is looking nice as well.

In the two (middle & bottom) lower photos you look totally female. You have a good base and a nice body shape to start out with hrt which should fill you out nicely. You actually look like a girl I met at the Lake Fork Pride Fest while I was down south on vacation.

Alright, I don't get it! My eyes always look small in pictures, my nose looks huge and my face is super slender... why!?

Is it the camera angle? Do I suck at taking pictures? It's not what I see in the mirror at all, my face is larger in the mirror but in pictures it all gets cramped up with my nose sticking out of the middle...

I know I don't "pass", I'm pre-everything anyway. I've already been refered to an endocrinologist and I'm getting blood samples this week or so... but... the pictures kill me. I also know the glasses are stupid, they're from the 70s, I don't really wear them, don't worry... and there's not much I can do with my hair because of its length. No make-up and eyebrows not done, I'm as raw as they come... Sure, maybe I could prepare before taking pictures but there's really not much I feel I could do without it being plucking my eyebrows (used to get them waxed). Help? Why does my face always look so weird? Some people here manage to look beautiful or at least convincing but with me I hardly see a "normal" face, much less a girl...

From the close up pic I wouldn't gender you male. I think you look just fine, and you'll look even better on 'mones.

Have you ever looked into aspoon and seen what it does to your features? It bends them and makes them look larger in weird places and smaller in others. That's what most cheap cameras do to varying degrees, at arms length. The closer the subject matter is to the lense the larger the inside portions of their features, like the nose, will appear and the smaller the outside ones look, which is just terribly unflattering. Not to mention the frankly sheeity lighting in your pics lol.

A higher quality camera and better lighting will do wonders, but there will still be distortion unless you use the timer. There always is at arms length. Like in my profile pic, there's the teensiest bit even though the cam was better quality than yours and the lighting was good, my nose still appears sliightly larger somehow and my face looks longer and more angular, a bit. It's just kinda the way selfies are, at that distance, haha.

Regardless, I see the distortion in your photo and I can see past it and I can tell, A., you're adorbbz and B., you'll have no trouble passing with HRT and eyebrows plucking. You wont need makeup, but youll want it, trust me. Good luuuckk!

I want to believe you but it's hard to! I'm 23, actually... wish I was 17. I've a lot of flaws that aren't showing in that pic! I'm 1,82m and haven't had laser, I hid the eyebrows on purpose aswell... ugh Southern European genes. Eyebrows are super dark...

I will be honest and say that your picture is beautiful, so that makes it harder for me to believe compliments... I was browsing another section yesterday and instantly noticed it. Clicked your tumblr aswell because I was curious =P And yay, anime.

Anyway, thanks to you two who posted trying to make me feel better. My ex said that the camera angle is the reason why my eyes look so small but they're definitly not big outside of pictures either, anyway... I had a hard time believing him aswell when he gave compliments... they make me feel better but deep down it's like my perception of myself is too tainted to see anything remotely good =/ There's those days where I like what I see in the mirror, but if I pop out a camera my ego is blown to bits. I avoid pictures a lot because of that reason...

Anyway, I'll leave a comic here that some might find funny, others will find cruel... but, essentially it's why I have a hard time believing people when they give me compliments, I'm always afraid that it might be out of pity T.T Hope I'm not alone in feeling that way... or, hope I do...

And while I was writing this, jussmoi4now replied. Thanks for the tips! You're obviously good at taking pictures, you look super pretty and make me jealous! =P
