Sorry if I posted this in the wrong forum, I only want to cross dress and there doesn't appear to be such a thread there.  I do need an honest answer, even though it would sting a little bit to learn I couldn't pass as a woman:

Obviously, I'll need to tilt the head down and avoid the horrible up-nose view.  I've looked into the various ways I can dress to hide my broad shoulders.  If I absolutely can avoid it, I don't want surgery or HRT.  I'll have to somehow hide my square jaw too.

So, honest answers anyone?

EDIT: Chic and Angélique LaCava, you both look stunning!

Thank you very much!

I've gotten some good advice from friends, so here goes: If you have broad shoulders, eat lots of soy and hummus. These will naturally help with reducing muscle mass and may help with your shoulder predicament. I recommend wearing black and white horizontally striped sweatshirts. This will give the illusion of not only being shorter, but having smaller shoulders. Ever notice how people who wear horizontal stripes look taller, that's the same concept.

Honestly, I think you could pass as female if you shaved, shaped your eyebrows, wore some makeup and grew your hair out/used a wig. Longer hair or a wig can be used to conceal the squareness of your jaw or at least shape it (square-shaped jaws are actually a good-looking trait in a lot of women though too) HRT would really help for fat redistribution in the face and other areas of the body, as well as reducing the visual size of the shoulders, but seeing as taking hormones isn't your plan, that's the best advice I can give you based on what I know!

With some makeup and an eyebrow trim, I don't see why you should have any trouble passing. I don't think you'll need to hide your square jaw. It's actually common for Asian women to have wider jaws (and in my opinion, more attractive).

I think you are going to do great, HRT or not.  I guess it depends on what end result you want.  Its always hard to say for sure when someone is in boy mode but I my opinion you would do fine. :)

Lara, river and Chic: thank you!  I did consider HRT at one point but if you ignore the nasty side effects, it would also kill some of my masculine traits.  I just don't want to take any permanent measures.  I like working out and pushing weights, but I can aim for high strength without building muscle mass (you do this by lifting more with as little as three reps and longer rests).  That said, I still have a garish upside-down triangle shape so I'll include hummus in my diet.  I don't want to lose too much of my strength but I wouldn't mind reducing the rise of my upper body.

I won't be growing out my hair because... well, I can't.  I go shaven/skinhead because have very little hair on top.  However, I've seen some nice wigs.  This one caught my eye:

http://www.cross-dress.com/Incognito-Wigs/Incognito-Style-296-Obsession.html

I like the black and burgundy wine colours.

I've looked at tutorials for eyebrow threading, I doubt anyone will notice if I shape them.  A great friend recommended Bare Minerals for makeup but I'll have to experiment with some cheap stuff to achieve a look that will suit me.  I've also sourced waist cinchers and padded boyshorts.

Chic, is your first name "..ooooOHH FREAK OUT!"?

Anyway, thanks again!

Thanks for offering your side - I'll consider HRT as a last resort.  In the meantime, I might put more of a focus on working my muscles through cardio.

Some exercises may actually be feminizing. For example, working your hamstrings and your glutes, and doing exercises to give yourself a thinner, more defined waist :)

I'll definitely look into those exercises, especially hip exercises (but I'm not ruling out the use of padding).  Thanks again.

I'm 31 and like to dress from time to time. So I'm not sure if I just wanna be a dresser and go back to boy mode or if I wanna just become a woman. What does everyone think of my look?

Your eyes look better in the first, but overall I prefer the second one.

TheQuestion

You can judge by my avatar, that's me pre-anything at all. I still can't figure loading pics; I'll upload a few once I'm able to, so you can get a full shot. I do have a ton of make-up on, only really to cover beard and soften features a bit. I definitely would need ffs, not a total overhaul, but some tweaks. Passing is big for me, so I'd like opinions...

You most definitely would.  You certainly look very female in your avatar.

Well, I am wearing a wig and have a ton of makeup on. I've lost some hair, it's about that color, but I still have a good deal left. If hrt stopped any further loss, then I'd probably be in good shape for hairline feminization and thickening across the entire scalp. I'd love to grow my hair that long afterward and have it similarly styled. The makeup, which I suck at, is mostly for beard coverage, but it softens the features a bit and makes me look like I have a more feminine skin texture: which after electro and hrt I'd hopefully have anyway. I'd also get ffs, like I said, I'd say some things need to be worked on...
