Gel is indeed more steady, and acts more like a cis-males system. Apparently, they have a bit of a peak in the morning which levels off a little bit during the day. This is why it is recommended to apply it in the morning. And yes, it keeps levels a lot more steady. There is no mega peak every week or every two weeks. If you do feel moody at the end of a cycle, gel might be a good solution for you.
I switched to gel because my acne was out of control, and my T-levels were way too high on a normal dose of shots. My endo recommended gel because of its steadyness, as well as being able to control the dosage a lot easier.
