Usually that's after, so the fat goes to the right place.

I walk for km (miles in your case) at work and on a day off its at least 90min at aprox 8miles/hr maybe more. It helps that I can't drive and hardly take public transport. This can help speed up your metabolism making pasta and ramen (generally cheap food) not as bad as people say even though they are full of starch and carbs. I also do squats but they kill my knees so I can only do them in short burst.
Ha, I walked 7 miles in one go yesterday, according to the pedometer on my phone, 589 calories burned. I ate maybe 1400 calories max. Not great, but I can't afford much in the way of food right now. With the exception of yesterday, my meal schedule has been oatmeal with coffee/tea for breakfast, ramen for lunch, pasta (with either olive oil, jarred sauce (not as of late) or one of my hommemade sauces) with vegetables for dinner. So yeah, carbs, cardio, now I should be on the weight gaining phase. When I started HRT about 2 and a half months ago, I weighed in 1t 168 pounds. Now, I doubt I weigh much more than 150 (I last weighed in at 152.3 2 weeks ago, haven't remembered to weigh since) so I've seen almost no breast growth over the last month, compared to April, when I had the cafeteria that was all you can eat, and I was surprised that I had any growth in the first month.
BTW, 8mph is pretty fast, Google Maps tends to estimate 3mph, with my legs, I get 4-5, at a normal pace. You're probably thinking KPH
