I think that's an interesting question.

 What is it that drives the lack of libido?  Is taking E the cause of no libido?

This has been discussed sevral times previsoulsy.  The answer is no.

I wouldn't think so as the nerve ends are still there unaffected.

^^^ I get that, but if you are stimulating those same nerves pre-op while on HRT and can't achieve heightening feelings (impotence), how do you achieve orgasm after surgery when things are sure to lose even a little more sensitivity?

It's all in the mind.  The nerves help a little.  BUt it is all in the mind.

Jen are you post op?

I know post op women, some virgins before SRS. Trust me this is not an issue.

Are you taking Spironolactone or other androgens? These medications are intended to reduce testosterone which is the hormone largely responsible for the sex drive in both men and women. If testosterone production is suppressed for any reason - either naturally or with medication - then your sex drive is likely to be effected. Also, estrogen in the Pill has also been found to reduce libido in a segment of the natal female population. But this does not mean a less than satisfactory sex life post op. Libido and being orgasmic are different. As was mentioned, whereas libido is largely in the head, orgasm is based on a combination of factors including nerve ending. But since we are not physicians, I suggest you talk to your doctor about this.

Well this is what I mean. If you are impotent or find it difficult achieve orgasm using your male parts while suppressing testosterone *and* being on female hormones, how does the picture change when things are resected even further?

I'd think if you are 'impotent' as a male you'll be just as 'impotent' as a female.

Unless your impotence as a male is a direct result of your body dysphoria. Speaking for myself I know I cannot achieve orgasm unless mentally I am able to get past my dysphoria and envision myself as an anatomically correct female.

Impotence implies inability to get an erection.  An erection is not necessary for an orgasm.  I haven't had a usable erection in years, but have frequent orgasms.  Estrogen makes your entire body more sensitive to stimulation.

T is not the be all and end all of libido.. My T level is essentially zero. (Yeah, I know that's too low.) And yet I have a quite healthy libido. Oh, and function..

The mind is the biggest sex organ we humans have.. And if you are in a healthy place mentally, the rest seems to follow.

Well lets put it this way: before HRT I had no real libido. But now I have a libido and don't know if it's from the E or spiro and Prometium. I thought I would be a dyke and  maybe it was all just fantasy but I'm 100 percent into men now. IDK, maybe its circumstance since I'm with this super hot guy a lot, like all the time.

There's a difference between no male libido and no libido period. After all, cis women have a sex drive at their typically much lower testosterone level; no reason it should be different for me. I had a healthy female libido pre-op, and things work better than fine after GRS.

Actually, despite the logic of having only the same number of nerve endings... things are MUCH more sensitive there now, too. I don't know how it works, but I'm grateful. (I also was able to orgasm without erection before, and yet somehow I get the expected clitoral erection/genital engorgement now.)

I predict you'll be so fine being female that your male inadequacies will fade into memory (and you'll build a whole new set of female inadequacies (j/k))!
