Just a rant about the LGBT community in this city. I'm pretty sure the people who know me know I have this opinion and those who don't, I don't talk to, but I guess I'm just frustrated.
To me, it doesn't seem like there is much of a community and, if there is, the T in LGBT isn't really a part of it. While on the surface, the LGB people accept us, I've found that's not really the case. I've had cis people try to tell me what I should and shouldn't be offended by. I had a cis person attack what was supposed to be a safe place for trans people and claim that trans men weren't real men. We live in a province where trans health care and laws surrounding gender markers are behind almost every other province and they're still arguing over what is appropriate dress for the Pride parade. Let that sink in: they consider what amount of boob visibility is acceptable to be more important than trans health care and allowing us to change out gender markers. It's difficult not to take that personally.
Then again, I suppose I can't talk seeing as the trans people in this city are too apathetic to do anything either.

I have had a similar experience with a local LGBT group.  The fact is that the "T" people are far too often treated like the red headed step children of the bunch and we are the first to get thrown under that proverbial bus, even when "L", "G", or "B" also happens to apply to us.  A few months ago I ripped an older gay guy a new a*hole for telling me how now that he can marry his partner that he no longer has to worry about anything and can finally stop being an activist.  I told him that because I am part of the "T", I necessarily have his back, and he should keep up the fight for everyone else, especially becuse trans rights are pretty far behind those of the LGB.  His reply was, "I honestly don't care much because I don't have a horse in that race.  Sorry."  I told him what a pathetic sniveling loser he was and because of that alone, he was not worthy of marriage, let alone having a partner in the first place.

Basic politics and human nature sadly.  Once you have what you have want why stick around.  Everyone is out for number one (not saying it is right just what the vast majority do). The hardest part in any fight for change is to look at they why your doing this not what you want. So you're willing to keep fighting the good fight even after you have got what YOU wanted. 
We are a minority and sadly while some of us want to dissappear into a sea of normal stealth type relationships (me. Yes I'm a scab I'll gladly take the benefits without lifting a finger).  Politik rears it ugly head of those who are striving to help and change with the lovely what is trans debate (not trying to start a flame war here). This can mean people who have the time strength and energy to spend on enacting change loose the will and places become more concerned about boob visibility then trans health care
