Miharu Barbie

Hello.

I'm not exactly new here, but I have not posted to this forum in a very long time.  I'm not 100% sure why it is that I feel I do not fit in here; it might just be a condition of my life.  I'm kind of weird in so many ways.  I feel that I do not fit in anywhere most of the time.

Still, as a trans-woman who transitioned 16 years ago, I always find myself drawn back to seeking connection among other trans-folks.  And so here I am.

I am setting the intention to participate while I'm here, as opposed to just lurking.  I figure that I can commit to at least one post a day.  For what it's worth, if I make one post every day, perhaps I will come to feel that I belong here, that I fit in here, that in some small way, I'm part of this little online community.

I look forward to getting to know some you.  And I look forward to (perhaps) being known.

Peace,
Miharu

Hey cool.  There are lots of people here in the middle of transition but not to many well established. Darn kids full of energy and questions.  The long-term perspective is an important one.

Hey, Miharu, welcome back! After a while you notice people disappear & you have to respect their reasons, life goes on outside of Susan's, you have to do what is right for you. I missed you. I remember you posting a pic of you and your wife at a fair or market & I think you live in or near Seattle. You were both wearing very colorful fashions.

Cheers!

Thank you Gennee.  :)

And thank you, James.  I think the distance between when I transitioned and where I am today is part of what inspires the feeling that I don't fit in here.  Transition in 1998, I think, was so very different from transition in 2014.  What could I possibly have to offer in the way of support or guidance?  Well, that's what the annoying little voice in the back of my mind says on the subject.  Time will tell.

Hiya Kate.  Funny you should ask about my name.  In real life, everyone knows me as Katie (though my driver's license, birth certificate and passport all say Kathryn).  Miharu is more of an online persona.  The name originates from a Japanese anime series called "Girls Bravo".  The main character is a super girly, wide-eyed innocent extraterrestrial that I very much identified with when I watched the series many years ago.  Her name was Miharu Sena Kanaka.  She had pink hair, and because of her, I have many streaks of pink in my own hair and I have for many years.

Now you know my dark secret.   :)

Peace,
Miharu

Hi Jamie.  Thank you.

Yes, you're absolutely right about the picture.  I'm actually in the Portland area.  The picture you're referring to was from a gathering of local Susan's Forum girls.  I think something like 8 or 9 of us gathered at an art festival in downtown Portland.  We were hoping to make the gatherings a regular event; sadly, it never took off.  As you say, life gets busy.

Thanks for the warm welcome.

Miharu,

Thanks for correcting me on location, yes Portland. I remember you did connect with other Susan's members. Sorry there were no more reunions.

Hope life is going well with you.
