Cathay Pacific in January/February is $7000 for business class roundtrip ORD-HKG-BKK. The round the world trip I could do afterwards, making it

ORD (Bolded are actual stops, others are just plane change) would be $11000 in business class.
I see no logic to that. Just means more fancy seats and meals for me.
Sad part is, even though I love Cathay and their business class seats to death, $7000 for the flight is beyond what I can afford. It's about $1000 ORD-NRT-BKK on ANA, or ORD-ICN-BKK on Asiana in coach, or the cheapest business class price, $3500 on Hainan ORD-PEK-BKK, and although they're all 5 star airlines, none of them have the place in my heart that Cathay does.
Is it possible to be a fan of an airline? If so, I'm certainly Cathay's #1 fan. Wish it could get me a free/discounted upgrade
