Hi everyone. Just wondering how many of you have been REALLY slow with the facial hair.

Have any of you been on T for a fair amount of time (years) and had practically nothing? I don't mean patchy where you don't have enough to grow a proper beard, I mean where you could actually get away without shaving and still not have anything showing?

Or for those that were really, really slow, did any of you get there eventually?

I'm not massively worried as the main thing I wanted was my voice to change and that's happened. Then next I'd choose body shape and muscle growth etc, and face shape. I've passed 100% since 2 and half months on T, so I know I'm very lucky and am massively grateful.

However I'm just wondering if maybe my genetics just won't work for me with facial hair. Im still only 9 months on T and I know even for those with average development it takes around 2 years to get a half decent growth, but I literally have nothing that needs shaving. My lip has some very fine and very short hairs, but they don't need shaving. My bio sister has more on her lip, as do soooooo many other genetic females. I see pics of trans guys pre T who had 3 times more than I do now.

So yeah, just trying to figure out whether there's still hope or whether I'll need to resign myself to the fact that maybe it's not gonna happen. (Like I said happy though, so this isn't a post where I need reassuring. Ta!!!)

Cheers for your input :D

If you come up on 2 or more years and still have nothing even starting to come in, then yeah, I'd assume it was genetics.  Otherwise, you'd have to give it more time.  Cis male puberty takes more than 5 years.  Just for instance my 20 yo brother started puberty around age 12.  He started getting a little bit of a mustache, the kind most teen boys get, his beard is still changing in coverage and thickness, and will continue to change as he ages, as all men's facial hair does.

Just wondering how many other ftm's have as little as me at this point. I'm sure there must be some :)

I'm coming up on 5  years on T and my facial hair is still quite actively coming in... I'd say faster than the first few years for sure.

These things all take time.
I solemnly swear I am up to no good.

Thanks.

Since posting this I have been chatting to my parents on Skype (they live in a different country so I don't see them often) and I asked my Dad about his growth. He says he can grow a tash but not a beard, not even a goatie. So looks like my facial hair may be doomed. Lol

However IF I do prove to have his genetics he's nearly 70 and has a full head of hair. So I'd be happy with that :)

I had pretty much next to nothing at 9 months.  Just some dark fuzz in various places.  2 1/2 years now, it's coarse and coming in everywhere.  Just hold on before resigning yourself to the idea that you won't develop any.

I've been more than 1,5 years on T and I only have very sorry excuse of pedo stache, or virgin stache like they apparently say in Poland. I bet it's not helping at all that I'm a natural blond.

I'm hoping to see some boost in the facial hair department now that I've had hysto so I don't have my own hormone production in the way. I'm also on "strongest" brand of T we have in Finland so... fingers crossed!

I think around 2 years was when I had noticeable facial hair...might've had a little bit of side burns. There's a guy I know who is a few years on and doesn't have much so it does happen.

I am 3 years on T and aside from a small patch right under my chin, I don't have the shave the rest of my face at all.   It sucks, but yeah...there are guys out there.

2.5 years in, have hair under my neck and on my chin, but that's it. My legs certainly got fuzzy though.

Don't be discouraged by our misfortunes! You never know . . .you may start filling in within the next few months. At the same time however, it's safest to just not expect too much.

Almost 3 years (NEVER shaved my main patches other than a line up) and my facial hair is finally starting to fill along my jaw line. But I do have to add that it's really all genetics.

For example, my facial hair pattern is nothing like my father's. His grows all over, while mine has a specific "shape" I guess you could say. . err here's just a pic

With that seen, I don't exactly expect to be able to grow a lumber jack beard anytime soon if ever. *I've accepted this cruel reality a few months ago  :( )

Facial hair transplants are a thing, for guys who badly want facial hair and can't grow it. I don't know how it works with no facial hair whatsoever, but if years down the line I still have nothing but fuzz I might be looking into it.

I've been on T for about the same time as you and have a similar situation. You may actually have some androgenic hairs. I shave once a week because the peach fuzz bothers me. I've got like 4 manly chin hairs that I just noticed 2 weeks ago and my father could grow full facial hair. The other factor is if your blond or greying because it will be less apparent initially.

Nope I don't even have that :(

I have dark thick hair too so being blond isn't a problem. I have a tiny amount on my lip that doesn't need shaving and you can only see it when close up and in the right light. Most of the women I look at (and I'm now looking for it on all women I see) have more hair on their lip than I do still. lol
