And it went quite well I thought.

I first came out to the CEO (A lady) and she accepted the news very well, asked intelligent questions, and gave me a hug afterward- wow, i've never seen her show affection toward anyone! She also seemed tickled to have another female on the engineering staff. Win #1, because if the CEO is happy everyone is happy.

I then visited HR and gave the HR lady a letter and she also took it well and was happy for me. Win #2.

Last, i came out to my boss. He was absolutely shocked and speechless. He apparently doesn't know anything about TG people and he had a hard time wrapping his head around the idea. He wasn't hostile or anything but I think he's going to reserve judgement. He is a good guy and a great boss and I think he'll come around.

So, 2 out of 3 ain't bad 

I'm coming to work as Eva on Sep 17th.

Take it as it comes with your boss, I had to help mine back when i was working come to understand. He was supper supportive.

Sounds like your just a few steps ahead of the same path as me. I've talked to a lady in HR and my project manager (who might as well be the facility CEO) both are very supportive. My project manager has actually had a trans neighbor and the HR lady has delta with this before. We are going to take me public next week and that will be it. I'm out everywhere else now. So far only 2 of my 3 sisters have given me any real problems.

  I remember when I went full time in July of 2013.The Va takes care of me and I said if I can walk in there at 6'6"  dressed as who I am in front of all those brave men I can do this anywhere.End of story, and I am ssssoooo happy now and still coming out to people that I don't see very often.Hugs and smiles and asked are you happy and you sure smile a lot     BTW I brought all the nail colors you have shown and love them.   Patty

That's great news, Eva. Congrats! It sure can be a nerve wracking experience but such a relief to get it over and done with.

I really had no schedule for this Grace, other than to put it off as long as possible 

Many things came together recently and I knew it was time to take the next step. Luckily it wasn't a step off a cliff.

My court date for my name & gender change is Sep 15th. I carry a purse into work on Sep 17th. Management in my company (my company has about 50 employees in it's local office) will be informed but no one else will. I think that they are planning a refresher course on the company's sexual harassment policy and gender will probably be touched on. And i think that the CEO is planning to send out some kind of email talking about whats going to happen closer to those dates but not specifically naming me. When I go AWOL on the 12th people will know who it is.

I have suggested that I meet the management team soon in female mode for lunch somewhere so that they can see me and get their curiosity satisfied and the CEO thought that was "an excellent idea".

I don't plan to get any work done on Sep 17th since the carpet outside my office is going to be worn out by the people coming by to gawk at me  😀

I will say this though, don't try to rush things with your style of dress, this can be difficult since you don't want to look like you don't know how to dress nice for a woman, and you don't want to look like you don't know how to dress as a woman. Sounds confusing, but you will soon understand what I mean! lol  I think it helps people accept the change easier if things are done gradually and not over exaggerated. Like I said this can be difficult....hell you now get to dress like you were suppose to, you want to wear what any other woman would be able too.

Just my advice, definitely not trying to rain on your parade at all!! Just want to help you make the transition as easy as possible. Which is easier to said than done 🙂 but it looks like you have a great start!!

Hey Shelly-

My business is very work causal - jeans, wedges, and a nice top will be perfectly acceptable which is nice because that's right up my alley. As an example of how casual it is there is a guy that shows up in hiking shorts and hiking boots each day, and the women tend to show up in jeans mostly except for the women in management; they tend to step it up a few notches. Gotta love California!

I don't own a dress and most skirts are problematic because of the dangly thing which causes a bulge if everything is not tucked in well. Hopefully that will get taken care of some day.
