Cindy

So, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O4gaiJChoTc&feature=youtu.be

I'm Cindy and I was a very frightened little person. But I had to overcome it.

That was 5 1/2 hr of  filming and 5 takes of putting lipstick on.
The reaction from the public? Zero.

We just need to face our fears and walk free. We can all do it.

I keep forgetting you live in Australia as well, Cindy ;D When I watched it, I was thinking, why is that tv channel symbol so familiar? Duh, it's the local ABC!

This is the first time I've heard of the term GCS and I have to say, it's a much better term than SRS :) I hope the conference goes well - I wonder if the gender psychiatrist I see in Perth (Dr. Russell Date) will be taking a trip over there to attend the conference, perhaps I'll ask him next time I see him!

"Coming out to everybody, letting people know that we're not monsters, we're just normal men and women with normal needs." made me tear up. It's so true, I wish more people understood that

Cindy,
I was very impressed by the clip on YouTube. Although I am new to this site I hope you don't mind my comments. I have had some RLE I to a found I was accepted with no problems. I have not started HRT yet but will be visiting a clinic very soon. The best advice I can give to anybody out there which you also said. I'm not going to worry about what I don't have control over and I will deal with issues as they come up. You are an inspiration to me as I am also on the older side beginning my transition.

What a wonderful news segment.  Cindy, you should be ever so proud of yourself for participating.

Two parts stood out for me:

- The bit where you explained how the "male" you was someone you owed a huge debt to for protecting you and looking after you before you came out.  For someone like me who is struggling to stop despising my wasted male life prior to starting transition, this made so much sense.  Realizing that the reason I'm here today, becoming female, is because the prior male "me" took good care of the female "me" up to this point (even if the female "me" doesn't always appreciate it) helps tame some of the irrational anger and sadness that I spent four decades in the wrong body, and maybe can help me start to put the past into its proper context.

- Your last few words about how we're still wandering down the aisle of the bus looking for the seat.  Such a great description, and one which makes it clear to viewers of the segment that the battle for transgender equality is in its infancy and puts it into the correct context of a civil rights struggle.  Much work lies ahead, and I have no doubt that with such an honest and open portrayal of yourself in the news segment, you've added many allies.

Really well done.  (And you look great too!)

took a break from minecraft to watch, and then that evening song started playing just as i got to the point where you started talking about the difficulties accessing necessary medical care.
it was oddly, sadly, fitting.

was wonderful to see you though. you're even more than just a picture of a face!

how i wish i could just travel to australia for that conference... but the plane tickets would be way too expensive.

Really and seriously, I think we have a star in our midst. Can you sign an autograph for me Cindy? Seriously though, going on television and telling your story is just a bout the bravest, most confident thing I have ever seen anyone do or to me anyway. I seriously doubt I could do it. As a matter of fact I know I couldn't. God, I need to think about moving to Australia. I like ACDC and Orianthi and just the small population as a whole not to mention all the desert. That's a thinker.

I really enjoyed this, Cindy. Made me cry, knowing there is hope for me too.

Thank you for the quick treatise on FEAR.  So much the stuff of smoke and mirrors that we helped to create in the first place.  I love your confidence and appreciate your kind words about your former self.  The people we once animated did the best with what they had.

And coming out internationally is so totally cool.  Of course our hearts beat fast and the anticipation can morph into fear and then it's done and it can seem like "huh no big ehfing deal."

But it is a big deal.  You did something remarkable and we get to shine the spotlight on you with gratitude.

Cindy,
You are a shining star for me.  "I have a great deal of love for him...  He kept me safe."  I appreciate your affection for who you once tried to be, I reflect it for my past too.  He did what he could, the best he could with as much style as he could find.  Now it is my turn, and he has graciously stepped aside.

I will miss this ANZPATH, but I hope to see you in two years.

Thank you for this  :-*
