My doc is willing to prescribe me injections. Is the extra money worth it?

That's the route my doc and I have chosen to take.  I'm very happy with the progress I'm making so early in my transition.  I have insurance, but if I choose the cash price it comes out to about $55 per vial.  For me it comes out to be around $5 a week.   Hope that helps ^_^

I use injectable Estradiol Cypionate and would not trade it for anything. Once a week no muss or fuss and very effective. This is the only time I am glad I am old. A 90 day supply $2.66 with Medicare. 

I switched to Estradiol Valerate after being on pills for 7 months. I noticed a big difference and the costs are actually a little cheaper than pills. (Not by much). A 5 month supply costs me about $108 and $2.50 for the needles needed to self-inject for the 5 months and this is without insurance coverage. (I use Callen-Lorde which is an Informed Consent Clinic.)

I wish my doctor would go this route.  I'm really disappointed in my progress, or lack thereof.

This was a confusing topic for me.
I think it needs to be clarified that estradiol valerate also comes in tablets.
I've been taking these in conjunction with cyproterone acetate tablets and I've had quite good results so far.

I don't find pills inconvenient and haven't missed a dose yet (although I have almost forgot once )

Never tried needles.

It is but I don't think anyone would recommend that you do. Hormones are powerful things which have a broad range of effects, some of which can be really very bad indeed. They really are best taken under medical guidance.

I am currently on pills, but in the beginning was on Estradiol Valerate  also known as DelEstrogen. Everyone I saw go on the injections showed marked changes for the better and fast. I liked that little 'warm flush' of a rush that came over about 30 minutes to 1 hr after the injection. It made me feel soooo relaxed.  Did or does anyone else feel this too?

Oh yes! It was even better when mine prescribed Progesterone as well. OMG! 

Jessica, I am going to be using progesterone as well too along with my estrogen. I was noting research which concludes progesterone has further beneficial effects beyond the added breast tissue growth. Won't note it here because it is not part of this topic.

Would low dose patches and injections together be too much?

I was on pill first, then moved to the patch and later on switched to Depo Estradiol (injections), I have seen a lot of progress since switching to injections, I wouldn't go back to pills again.

The only thing I don't like is injecting myself every two weeks.

I so know the pellet girls will scream out - have pellets (implants).

Every 6 month and you are done and dusted.

Cindy, I recently got an implant.
Do they ever do multiples? How do they know when to get another one?

I still stack tablets on top of the pellet, but at least the liver load and cost is down.
