Looking at my insurance documentation... that was a long stint.... thank god for coffee and nicotine (love my pipe and my vape!), It appears they do cover gender idenity issues including HRT.  My question is, can any therapist deal with gender identity issues, and who in the past have dealt with kaiser?  Also, if anyone has recomendations in the portland area, i'm all ears.

In order for kaiser to accept and pay for therapy you must be referred to "their" therapist. If you can I would recommend getting out of kaiser while you transition as they recognize us as needing transition, but rather learn to deal with it. I saw this in some of my patients before I myself decided to transition. As for portland check out PDXQCenter; they have a transgender section for meetings and events in the area. well i'm not opposed to that, i'm not in teh biggesty hurry, not even sure if I want too but, I do want to talk to someone about it.  How do I get referred?

If you have Kaiser, then just contact the mental health department and they will follow up with everything. They will have somebody on staff who handles therapy.

Kaiser has been fine for me. I did my therapy with them and worked with my endo at the same time. You will have to get therapy before they will approve you for HRT.
