just thought this was a good thread idea
basically finish the sentence you know you're trans when... with as many things as you can think of
for example
you know you're trans when you wonder if it's time to tell your parents your name
you know you're trans when you get to the point where you never want to hear your birth name or the wrong pronouns again and then you have to hear them again
you know you're trans when you don't want to change your facebook profile picture because you know facebook will misgender you and fixing that feels much too scary to do anytime soon
you know you're trans when you want to wear a dress , but you worry that it will show your boobs and that will make you dsyphoric
you know you're trans when you always feel conflicted between wearing things that will help you pass and wearing what you feel like wearing

...you suddenly realise your dysphoria is having an argument with your cognitive dissonance because half your brain goes "I'm a BOY brain, why is this body female?!" and the other half goes "I've grown up without really internalising the idea that sex and gender are different AAAH how does this work"

...or is that just me being weird?

Same.

When you look a person of your gender, feel jealous, and think, "That's what I want to look like."
When your voice is so high, you want to rip out your own vocal chords. (Not anymore. Ha!)
When binding becomes an everyday thing even though it's uncomfortable as heck.
When you look forward to stabbing a needle in your leg.
When things like buying clothes can either make you feel horrible or great based on how they fit.

You know when your trans when...You don't look in the mirror pondering, "Do I look good, or not?" But rather freak out if you don't see features of the opposite (physical) sex.

when you look in the mirror pondering "Do I look good or not?" from the opposite perspective of your birth sex. And also freaking out if you don't see features of the opposite ( physical ) sex.
They/them pronouns preferred.

You know you're trans [woman] when you're playing hop scotch in second grade telling yourself "if I don't mess up, someday I'll be a girl"
  •

Mai

when pre transitioning, a coworker suggests a dare to do your hair in a feminine style, and you actually like the idea.

When you (M) look at women in the train or the subway and wish you could look like (/be like) any of them, even the not exactly conventionally good-looking ones.

When having to be you seems like a life-long purgatory.  Or like you're living in a "separate but (ha ha!) equal" world, and you're condemned to the less equal side.

When the privileges of being male begin to seem like shackles.  And having to put up with the c*** that women suffer every day seems like a more than fair trade-off for not having to be male.
