I have been told that part time employees of Starbucks are eligible for insurance and that the insurance covers trans surgeries. My question is, does anyone know if this is true and if so, do you know the monthly cost of the insurance, copays etc? Guess that was a multi part question  Anyway, any help would be appreciated. Thanks guys.

Yes and no. My wife was a barrista at Starbucks and her insurance helped pay for my HRT. She opted for a Gold plan, so my copay to my endo was $30 and my estrodiol was $5/mon. My spiro was free. The plan covered both of us for about $250/month. It is significantly cheaper for self coverage omitting your spouse though.

As to SRS, I do not recall it being covered, but I do remember reading that they were expanding transgender health coverage. Not certain as to the status currently. I do think they will cover your top surgery, but not phalloplasty is not likely to be in the coverage.

Good luck! I hope you get hired there and your transition goes well.
