The following link does not have anything R rated (or worse). It's just pictures of adult film stars with and without makeup.

I think there are two lessons to take away from this.

1. We need to be far more forgiving of ourselves. Almost no woman looks like a magazine model or a film star without makeup.

2. We need to consider and use makeup just as other women do or accept that we're going to look plainer than other women.

You're absolutely right, Liz Marie!  I've seen such photos before, and in a way they're quite shocking.

I myself don't leave the house without my makeup.  I look OK with it.  Without it, I can't live with myself.  That said, for the last while I've done without eyeshadow and mascara--the reason being that I picked up an infection in my eyes.  So staying away from the eye makeup for a while was enforced on me.  I've been pleased to see that I still look OK without it, but now that my eye problems have cleared up, I know I'll go back to it pretty soon.

I mean, when you've got a nice looking woman in a café telling you you're the glamorous type, it makes makeup an irresistible temptation.

Most of those women look much nicer and more natural without the make up anyway. Sure they look hot with the makeup but my preference has always been for natural. I don't use much make up...a little bit of pencil to shape the end of the eyebrows, small bit of eye shadow on my eye lids only, minimal  skin tone concealer and some not too bright lippy. When I first transitioned one of my female colleagues told me that one of the things that was making it easier for her to see and accept me as a woman was the fact I didn't use much make up. Go figure!

Hi Liz Marie,

The thing I always wonder about when I see pictures like these, is the fact that they wear heavy makeup all the time, the reason they have very visible skin problems when they  take it off?  It would be interesting to compare these before and after pictures, with before and after pictures of women that always use very light makeup.

Thanks for posting this,
Paige :)

I think that most women look much nicer without makeup. Lipstick and possibly some mascara (very little) is enough.

As you can see, they all have spots and clogged pores on their skin. Which is caused by wearing so much makeup. I never wear foundations and (bb) creams, or powders, and my skin is flawless.

That's exactly why I won't use makeup for my 24/7 life, usually I just go for the Concealer n do a little patch work, like in my profile pic... No makeup

I don't even have the money for makeup right now. I think my skin looks fine most of the time... though I could do with some eyeliner and mascara. Like all the pictures I've posted here are without makeup.

Yep. I work in the television industry. I see the beautiful women you see on TV before the makeup and post processing, and anything the camera brings out. They look ordinary like you and me. And to me that is a good thing.

I shake my head when trans girls say they need to wear ultra feminine things to validate themselves. Me? I'm a jeans and cute top kinda gal. And I think that's mostly how I'm going to dress when I go FT.

Jeans and tshirt, baby!! Whoop whoop!! Okay, though I do like to wear an occasional skirt or dress.

This is a great thread, sometime we need to be reminded that ciss women are far from perfect without their makeup too. ^_^
Live a life with no regrets and be the person you know you were meant to be.

I am a weird girl, I like video games and skirts, swords and nail polish, sharks and black lace...not sure if that's normal, definitely sure that I don't care. =P

Yayy awesome thread!

Honestly though..I do enjoy to wear somewhat full makeup every day I go out. I think it's fun!!

I used to break out, but now I never have skin problems. Listen people the reason is that I began to gently but thoroughly remove the makeup, and exfoliating my face each night. If you are going to wear makeup, ya must commit to skin care and proper removal.

St Ives, or even better Equate Apricot scrub, like $2.50 at Walmart is the cheapest magic in a bottle. Use nightly to exfoliate (remove dead skin); the minute trauma of exfoliation also stimulates collagen production. I'm telling you it is the secret to glowing, fresh skin.

Skinny jeans (capris in the summer) and tops with me most of the time. Sometimes I wear a little makeup, but I like it to look natural to where it doesn't look like I'm wearing makeup. I pass fine without it. I enjoy having a little fun with it. Daily I don't always wear it, but if I'm going out on the town at night dancing or "other" club, then yes, I'll put some on.

If you go crazy with makeup and it looks too feminine, it will only put a bulls eye on parts of your body that aren't feminine that you can't control.

Cute Ida

Hello,

I usually don't have time to put make up on all the time so I just restrict it to when I do have enough time to put it on. Which isn't very often. My avatar pic shows what I look like without makeup. My cheeks are a bit redder if I've been outside in the cold or haven't drank enough water or if I've done any physical activity or just taken a shower.

I pass very well wether I wear makeup or not. I don't curl my lashes. Before I transitioned my mother always remarked that I had the most girliest eyelashes so I've made it a habit of not curling my lashes and the other thing I don't use is mascara. I wear glasses so why bother putting it on? I look good without it anyway.

When I do wear makeup I do feel like my feminine self. If I do wear makeup I always make sure its passable. When I don't wear makeup at all or maybe some lipgloss or lipstick only I feel much more natural. That's my two cents on this topic.

 great topic Liz!

Is there start creating my wardrobe on this journey, it's far different than my wardrobe would have looked like two decades ago when I really considered myself a crossdresser.

Now I'm completely content with a pair of jeans and a nice top, like others have said , light make up to accent ones look not heavy make up to create a night on the town work every single day. Boots or shoes, mild heels, these all can look sexy in their own rights all without much effort or, as they say pomp and circumstance.

Confidence is a huge part of beauty, don't forget to put that on and wear it every single day.

Hello, Looking pretty without makeup is actually my (appearance) goal and felt I was doing a pretty good job.  Apparently not good enough for one licensed gatekeeper.  Despite the custom woman's shirt (buttons on the correct side), female shoes, diamond stud earrings and wearing a woman's watch, a licensed psychologist I saw this week indicated that was not feminine enough for her!  I would have shown her my panties and cami if she had asked.

Did I make the mistake of daring to show up without makeup?  Perhaps, she also asked my thoughts on considering FFS.  In my opinion she's just a gatekeeper seeking an opportunity to poach $175 per session for a year, or put another way, $4,550!  All I was 'seeking' was an introduction letter to Dr. Meltzer.  Don't really see the need to chat about problems just fix them!

I have no idea as to your situation. I have heard stories where gatekeepers would say you're not good enough. Fortunately I haven't encountered them here and if I did I would run far far away. People trying to "cure" me of my transgender issues I run far away from too.

When I finished electrolysis I stopped wearing make up apart from eye shadow, eye line, mascara and clear lipgloss. An eye infection last year made me stop,I've worn it twice this year.

The most important thing to take away from this is don't let impossible standards define your transition goals.

All women have flaws. And you can learn to minimize or conceal those flaws just like any other woman, but having flaws is no reason to not transition.

On another forum, I met someone who identifies trans but refuses to transition because she won't look like a Miss Universe contestant. That's why I started this thread. We should never let appearance alone determine our need and decision to transition.
