I'm slowly coming out and I'm just curious what others here might say when or if they were ever asked if they were wearing makeup by someone that doesn't know yet. I wear a little makeup everyday but not enough for most to notice.

My default was
"yeah isn't it cool?!!!!"
"I was at a party last night" :p
That seemed to get most.people off my back

I am at the very early stages of transition, so only my wife knows at the moment. Today, I was wearing some eyeshadow at home for the first time and the first time he saw me, my son immediately asked me why my eyebrows were purple...

I told him they were purple because I liked how they looked. My wife added that it's called eyeshadow and it's a kind of makeup.

That was that. (But children are kind of a special case...)

I didn't get sprung for make up (wasn't wearing any before going full time anyway) but I did called out on my waxed legs. That was at the staff Xmas party last year and I was wearing shorts. A lovely colleague good naturedly asked me what the deal was (and of course I was immediately the centre of attention for everyone else, a couple of whom already knew I was transitioning). I was a liiiiitle drunk and iwas so close to outing myself to everyone. I refrained though...just laughed and proudly declared "full body wax!"...that sure got the attention of the women and made the two remaining hairy guys there blanch! Thing is, most people might notice something but they don't join all the dots, and anyway if they do they're usually the supportive types anyway.

Mine was nail polish and my legs when I was in hospital for a little while. (Shupid hospital gowns). I had a few responses pending on my mood and what I thought of them.

I would give people a look and reply:
"So ???"
"Your point being"
"Why not!"
"Because I can "

Tone and inflection was the key. Showing that I didn't care, and forcing them to ask why they're asking me put them on the back foot and stopped any more talk.
