How many are having a hard time controling their diet since HRT

My medication for BPD makes me actually have to think about eating meals. I'm still having trouble losing weight though because of other medications I was on before that one and my thyroid decided it wanted to become hypo this summer. I actually wonder if being on hormones triggered the hypo-thyroid or not since it runs in the females in my family.

I've lost a lloooottt of weight since initiating HRT.  Much of it has been muscle, and the fat I lost has probably been regained by now.  So, for me, HRT caused me to eat a lot less.  As in, I was as low as 1,000 kcal/day at one point.  I'm not near the metabolic machine I used to be.

Everything is about balance, the body favors homeostasis -- we become attuned to a lifestyle, and interrupting that lifestyle is difficult. When we begin to attempt to eat less, our body tells us that it wants to eat the amount that we normally do, you'll feel hungry, because your body wishes to maintain your current body weight. Maintain it's current balance. You have to stick with a different routine, until you adjust.

Most importantly though, without the food you're used to, you'll start to burn less calories, your metabolism will slow rather than burn more fat. So you have to eat small amounts regularly, like a couple hundred calories every 2-3 hours or so.

Also sitting for over an hour can reduce your metabolism by upwards of ninety percent, but if you do a cartio activity for only two minutes every hour, it will result in an after burn that will keep your metabolism up.

You should also eat something just before going to bed, to help keep your metabolism up while you spend hours without eating anything, sleeping.

When(quite a while) I start HRT hopefully it makes me eat more, because though I don't think technically I have an eating disorder it's just that a lot of food isn't very appealing to me, and I don't really keep myself in check very well.

I think my main problem with dieting, is that I dont quite grasp the concept :~o

I am currently on what I like to call "the forever diet".
I used to be slim, then in my mid twenties I gained about 15kg! I went from 55kg(121lbs) to 70ish kg(155lbs). I'm not that tall either about 178cm (5'10 for the american folks). HRT has cause my metabolism to slow down. Pre HRT I could eat pizza everyday if I wanted. Now...I probably gain weight on lettuce  :'(

As for my hunger, I would say it has increased. However some of that hunger might just be my body telling me i'm still hungry because I'm trying to eat less. Hmmm ???

Omg, I'm glad I'm not the only one!  Before I was pretty much eating two salads a day, entree size salads but yeah mostly vegetables with fat free dressings and now all I want is pizza and chocolate!

Part of mine I have to blame on the holidays and it being winter in the US.  In the summer I eat a lot more fresh veggies because they're available, in the winter not so much and with the holidays over now there will be a lot less baking being done at my house, so yay for that.  :)  my job also plays a little into it as I don't have time for the gym anymore when I used to go 3 to 4 times a week.  I'm hoping my work schedule eases soon so I can get back to it.

The really good thing though is that I VERY rarely drink since starting HRT...  I don't need to any more.  :)

But yeah, all of that aside.....  ummm, someone pass the pizza and chocolate!   :P

I eat a lot less, but I started to control my intake and exercise more a few months before starting. I feel hungry much more often and stronger, but also found that I need less intake to make it go away. So it took adjusting when and how much to eat, but I have lost a lot of weight and hope to continue on that path. A big difference is that as previously I could've easily skipped meals and extend times between eating pretty extremely, but now it's practically impossible and I become very irritable and very unproductive if I don't eat fairly regularly.

More fluids, yes. I drink a heck of a lot more water than before.

Omg I have this problem right now too. It's levelled out a bit, but I got a Zoladex implant last year that really kind of took the edge off the hormones and delivered better results.  My boobs grew and my hips started to fill out, but I just thought to myself.. 'I SHOULD EAT MORE FAT!' Big mistake of course and so I had to tone up again after that month long phase. So now I find it quite difficult to keep my figure in trim and make sure I'm getting the right amount of fat in my diet without blimping out :/

For whatever reason, I don't worry about what I eat or how much. I hover around 175 and have been like that for years. But what helps is eating till you are content instead of full.

A bit of a roller coaster, but forced weight loss before HRT and have tried to stick to "good" eating habits, except at celebration times and big nights out.
But it takes a lot of hard work, not excercise but not eating yummy and sweet foods. I avoid fast food and pizza as much as possible, especially Pizza where I just 'gorge'...

Keep weight between 63 to 66 Kgs maximum!

I just ate a whole large one by myself.  Now wondering whether it's time to stick my fingers down my throat...

I am 'that person' that is losing weight.  And I needed to.  I have lost 12 lbs since starting HRT and I am well on my way to losing more.  I put on a  LOT of weight in the last few years (depression) and now I have a new sense of self worth that is giving me that little SHOVE that I needed!

I'm 182 cm tall and around 68 kg have been for the Last 18 years ...eat a lot, or eat nothing. Since starting HRT,I'm now getting hunger pains, whereas before I could go all day and forget to eat.my partner is happy about this as she always tried to encourage me to eat but now doesn't have to.just looks for the 'gnawing on my leg' prompt. I haven't weighed myself since I started but notice I'm putting on some extra girth around my thighs from my denim jeans tell tale(was loose now close fit). And my stomach is putting some extra layer on,maybe three or four mm thick not much but I can tell.

pre transition in the days when I didn't like myself I found I was about to hit 300 lbs - since going on hormones 11 months ago I have shed 60 lbs and find I have no problem with a much better food regimen than I used to have - I only hope it continues - would love to lose another 60 - let's just take all holidays off the calendar though

Ugh I am having the opposite problem with my weight on hrt. I've been really frugal with my money since starting hrt, so I think my calorie intake must be too low. Saving up for Orchiectomy. I don't even exercise in the winter. Just weighed myself the other day and I am at 144.5 when I used to be 155.5 lbs before hrt. 11 pounds is a lot to lose for someone 6'3 like me.

I've read it may be due to my body developing and/or muscle loss. I just really didn't think I had 10 pounds of muscle to lose.

The 1st 4 days after I inject E I am so hungry all the time. Even when I eat now I need to wait 20 minutes for the hunger to go away. I am trying to eat better but I am maintaining 210 pounds, I am 6'3". I have more lean muscle now though from exercise.

Odd, some people say I am too thin while others say I have a bit of a stomach. I need to lose 20 pounds.
