Well my doc says EV 40mg/ml...  I guess I'll try it but damn thats gonna be a small shot compared to what Im used to... Im also wondering if my insurance is gonna be OK with covering so many months supply... Im also gonna need LOTS of syringes and needles... Thats IF I can get it of course...

I was getting just over 90 days worth of EV the way my old script was written up and had no issues with Aetna. Just 1 5ml vial works out to be beyond 90 days. When the BCBS insurance reps came into work and gave their presentation about the benefits, they pretty much said 90 days or more had to go through their mail order pharmacy. Just that alone started my scramble for a refill back in December while I was still under Aetna but hit the lack of supply brick wall

Now, with BCBS I got hit with their You're a male and you also need pre-authorization brick wall for EV. Once that hurdle is hopefully over I'll see what happens with the 90 days worth bit. HR told me Aetna said the same thing a few years back. I hope it is the more along the "Strongly suggested" lines.

If BCBS bounces my meds, I am not sure what to do next. I can't do $500 for the EV. The BioIdentical EV from the compounding pharmacy option I have to go back to the doc about. $50 for 10ml I can readily do. That is likely what my co-pay will be

The helpful pharmacist at Target tried running my script for 10mg/ml through Welmark BCBS... The copay came back at $272.00 :( It was $35.00 with my old insurance, United Healthcare... I asked her if it needed "preapproval" she said she didn't think so but she didn't know for sure... She said she couldn't get it regardless... She called her wholesaler and they said their date to get 10mg or 20mg / ml is March 2015...

My doc hadn't called in the script for 40mg/ml yet so I couldnt find out what the copay would be but she said she would have to order it but she should be able to get it... Of course thats IF BCBS is gonna pay for a reasonable amount or even pay at all for more than three months worth...

She said I should probably go with one of two local compounding pharmacies... So I had her call my docs nurse and explain all this...  She said she's gonna call the compounding pharmacies for me today and she what they can do for me ::)

All this BS is making the Indian Progynon Depot from overseas internet pharmacies look like an attractive option... Im considering mentioning this to her... Im glad I started the refill process early, I still have about 3 weeks of EV left...

That was my Plan B that I was forced to run with. Reluctantly. I noticed a BIG difference in the effecacy between US made and offshore.

I know Walgreens receipt said the non-insurance price for the 10mg/ml was in the $250 neighborhood. So likely your insurance bounced it. The doctor needs to get the pre-approval form and submit it. My Walgreens did the cutesy of sending the form over to his office to help speed things up

Im hoping to get all this straightened out today, really sucks :'(

I have that Stroheckers place's info ready here and Im thinking if I have to I'll just bypass BCBS and try to have her call in my script with them...

Ive tried Progynon Depot as well and it works just fine for me and as far as I can tell its just as good as Delestrogen... I cant understand why IM EV isnt dirt cheap, not like there's a patent on EV or anything ::) ???

So my doc and his nurse dont usually work Fridays but she says they are really busy and she's doing a half day today...

She said Id have to call my insurance and have them send her a prior authorization form... Then she said a local compounding pharmacy will do a 40mg/5ml 5ml vial for a mere $280.00 and my insurance might even cover it ::)

I gave her the Stroheckers info and asked her to please call them and if possible have them formulate 10 or 20mg/ml in a 10ml vial but even if they cant my best option is trying their 40/mg/ml 10ml vial for $59.95 plus shipping...

She said that sounds good to her as well but she's going home for the weekend and she will call it Monday ;D

Thats cheaper than my co pays can possibly be for several months supply, Im still gonna make a claim with BCBS but I can handle just paying for it  ;)

So hopefully this works out, thanks for the info on Stroheckers ;D

Ok, has anyone used that stroheckers pharmacy?  I have to buy a new vial here soon and $59 for 10mg compared to almost $300 for 5mg locally, are you kidding me?  This sounds too good to be true.  Anybody use them though and have any opinions on them?   Thanks in advance:) (and yes I have a prescription for it;)

Here in Michigan, even compounding pharmacies don't have and cant get the stuff for EV. It's why I'm on Depo-E, which, ironically, is a LOT more potent to *me* and my body. All of our bodies are variant. EV did wonders for me, don't get me wrong, but after 17 months on it, these last two months really make all the difference that all those months combined, did. YMMV for sure!

When you read the fine print on the main Stroheckers page they sneak in "BioIdentical" EV. So it is not like they have a big bottle of 17 beta something or other 99% EV on the shelf and mix it with some oil into a smaller vial.

I haven't researched BioIdenticals enough yet to make a call. Nor serious enough yet about strying it to first ask the doc about it since Stroheckers have their own prescription form that needs to be filled out by a MD. (d/l the PDF and see)

It is the compounding pharmacy my doctor, who is trans, uses. I recently moved so he wrote me a script. I called it in to them and had large and small gauge needles, alcohol swabs, and a nice vial of EV shipped in a few days for $68. It is the same stuff my doc gave me for my shots every two weeks, only now, I have to give them to myself and the thigh muscle hurts more than my arm used to but I worry about self injecting into my arm, limited view and reach. Still, that price beats many co pays and is several month's worth of girl juice.

So far, their customer service, speed and packaging have been great.

I have used them for the three years I have been on injectibles.  Ecellent service, reasonable prices.  The E I receive is EV in cottonseed oil.

Well thanks everyone for the info ;)  Im using Stroheckers now as well, my docs nurse called it in today ;D

They can also do EV in 10mg/ml or 20mg/ml but its more for less E for the weaker concentration ???

I went with 20mg/ml 10ml vial for $105.00 shipped with 20 syringes and needles... They said I have to file a claim with my insurance myself and I will be trying that for sure... Thats a bit more the the $90.00 two 5ml vials of 20mg/ml Delestrogen would have cost with copays with my old insurance... Im not gonna give up easy with my new insurance but it sure seems like its gonna be a headache waiting to happen ::) Regardless Im just happy to have my EV on the way and It should be here before I run out of Delestrogen 8)

We went with 20mg/ml because I like to take a smaller shot every five days VS a bigger one every week or two... It works very well for me that way, I hope this stuff is as good as Delestrogen :)

heads up

Stroeheakers is out of E-Cyp until mid June.  They can get Retail only until then.  I don't want to see anyone get burned I know what a missed dose feels like and it aint funny.

See ya.

The Walgreen's next to Mazzoni is out of 40 mg/ml delestrogen too. I picked up a 20 mg/ml 5 ml vile for $32.00.

I am apprehensive about injecting twice the medicine and how my leg will feel the next day.

I am not a medical doctor, nor a scientist - opinions expressed by me on the subject of HRT are merely based on my own review of some of the scientific literature over the last decade or so, on anecdotal evidence from women in various discussion forums that I have come across, and my personal experience

Post-op since late 2005

I was able to get a generic 20mg/ml vial last month at a local big name pharmacy without any problem, so I thought the drought was over; I'll let you all know when it's time for my next refill.

Mine was just renewed. The day before I saw my doc I checked with the pharmacy and they checked and said "Yes, 10 mG/mL" is available. My doc sends the scrip over, A day later I pick it up.... 20mG/mL

OK, I guess 10 wasn't available.... Again.  Better then dealing with micro shots with 40, Now I can do mini

I've just started my second vial of 10mg/L Estradiol Valerate. which will last me about a month.  I've had really good luck with Save-On drugs in our local grocery store.  This vial will go a little faster than my first as I was on low dose for the first six weeks.

I like the 20 mg/ml better than the 40 mg/ml. With the 20 I do not get sore at the injection sight for 2-3 days after an injection. The down side is it is a lot of medicine to inject and I do it over about a 2 minute time period with breaks.
