well... maybe they are afraid that you can catch gender dysphoria from a toilet seat.

Wait, you CAN'T catch gender dysphoria from toilet seats?  Damn, I thought that what happened to me. [emoji13]

Now I'll never suspect that C.B. Embry is a deeply closeted and self-loathing transwoman. /snark

Nah, it was "girl cooties" the whole time.

Oddly, I think this might be a good thing. If it spurs debate, it will help people understand why we use the appropriate restrooms and how it would be worse to have a trans guy in the ladies or a trans woman in the mens.
Have you read my short story The Eve of Triumph?

Seriously, show of hands... who here thinks Buck Angel belongs in the ladies' room?

Quote..."I have a friend, and we can all say these things, who is a homosexual and she agrees that she doesn't want men in her bathroom," he says...

No problem with this...I wouldn't want men in the lady's room either. Agreed, ladies?

Quote...Embry also says he's supportive of anti-bullying laws that protect sexual minorities along with other groups – often a worrying prospect for religious conservatives and some libertarians...

First of all, anti-bullying laws should NOT be directed at any specific minorities. Bullying is WRONG, period, end of statement. It should be considered a type of assault, with the same punishments (i.e., jail time) and ostracizing. Oh wait, we don't ostricize people anymore...well, they shouldn't be allowed to play on the school's sports teams or other extra-curricular activities.

Second, What is this "worrying prospect"? Does he mean to say religious conservatives and libertarians are against anti-bullying laws in general, the laws' focus on minority protection, or that they are concerned the laws will be used specifically against them? I can see conservatives being frightened (especially the religious, brow-beating kind), but not so much the Libertarians.
...I think for most of us it is a futile effort to try and put this genie back in the bottle once she has tasted freedom...

One thing about that Jill - the old saying to be careful for what you wish for and the law of unintended consequences comes to mind - these people want to legislate us out of the bathrooms that match our gender - OK, so be it.

Can you imagine the uproar when trans women start using the men's room because "that's the law" and they are required to? And like you said - Buck Angel in a women's rest room?!?! OMG!  :o

I love the word "catch.' How about labeling trans students with pink triangles so the bathroom police can identify them.

Too bad it's aimed at students.  We could have taken turns reporting each other and made a million dollars!

It's as if some people just want to hunt us all for sport.  At least if they did that, they'd be honest about their complete disregard for humanity.

Well, all I can say is this: The prey CAN and WILL turn on the hunter.

I was thinking the same thing -

1. Enroll in a Kentucky school
2. Turn yourself in every time you pee
3. Tuition is paid for! 2 or 3 times will cover a semester!

From the Huffington Post ...

Kentucky is also one of the remaining states in the U.S. where gay marriage has still not been legalized. Reading the above article, I get the impression that Embry is not only transphobic, he clearly does not know the difference between a transgendered person and a cross dresser.

'"They're certainly welcome to live their lives as they choose, if they want to dress as the opposite sex and the school is OK with that, that's fine," he told the outlet."'

According to this clown, we "chose" this life, we want to dress as the opposite sex and we should be able to use whichever bathroom we want.  Well, he's just an ignorant boob and this bill needs to be overturned or challenged in the state's highest court.  I hope it goes to court where it will draw more attention and hopefully, protest.

I hear about ridiculous bills like this all the time in the US, I get the impression most never come to pass. Even if this one did fall through I don't think it would ever come into practice that much.

This is funny! I expect him to not know anything about us, but you really should.

Community Definitions:

Transgender: an inclusive umbrella term which covers anyone who transcends their birth gender for any reason. This includes but is not limited to Androgynes, Crossdressers, Drag kings, Drag queens, Intersexuals, Transsexuals, and ->-bleeped-<-s

http://www.gendersupport.org/forums/index.php/topic,54369.0.html

"Trangendered" is also incorrect usage.
