So I was just wondering if anybody has ever heard of a ftm actor. Or anything of the sorts. I'm really into acting but I feel it will not be as accepting in that sort of industry. If anyone has any sort of knowledge about anything like this I would greatly appreciate knowing.

There are a couple of FTM actors that I know of...One is Ian Harvie, (Transparent) and also Tom Phelan (The Fosters).  There may be others who are lesser known, or who are 'stealth'.  There is a youtube series called Brothers with a bunch of transguys as well.  If you love acting, I say go for it!  I think the future holds a lot of promise.

I used to be more into acting, unless I was doing pantomime I doubt I'll get back into it.

However, I do work on a lot of behind the scenes, eg: marketing, lighting, costume, set design ect.

Don't see why it would effect your acting career

I'm an amateur actor studying theatre in university. In early transition I took a break from acting because I read as a 15 year old boy. After a lot of work on my voice and giving the T some time, I'm successfully doing really well in a production of Sweeney Todd (got called back for Tobias and ended up in the ensemble and the solo bass in the quintet - my voice is "different", I don't necessarily sound like a bass even though I can reach bass notes, but my "different" sound is perfect for musical theatre), played Snug/Lion in Midsummer Night's Dream last year and apparently I was very memorable, and in my Shakespeare acting class this year have successfully pulled off Romeo and am working on Iago.

It took a lot of work, especially my singing voice, and I still have work to do, but it's definitely possible to transition and act male roles successfully.

As for accepting, at least in the productions and classes I've been a part of, being transgender is not a liability at all. A friend of mine who sits on audition panels says it makes me "unique" and "interesting". Which are good things at least in stage acting.
Still your heart says
The shadows bring the starlight
And everything you've ever been is still there in the dark night...

Thanks everyone. I definitely won't give up on my dreams. It's more comfortable knowing there's other ftms acting out there successfully. I never wanted to act so much. I never wanted the roles I would have been given.
