Today I went for laser. Totally in boy mode, because I'm not out at work yet.

I was afraid of the pain (which turned out to be not so bad, but like needles being thrown at your face).

So some of the students at the school where I get the laser done were talking, and then the owner (or the manager, dunno) said, "wait, does HE have lidocaine on his face?" Well I didn't really take it personally as I was in boy mode after all and I don't really male fail yet. Then I said, "yeah but you know what I'll grin and bear it..."

Then one of the students said, "yeah, take it like a man!"

I said, "well technically i aint one."

Then she said, "what do you mean? Oh you used to be a girl right."

I said, "nope the other way around, I'm a trans woman."

Then silence and they turned around.

But I knew they really meant no harm. It was all good. Since they are learning electrolysis they should get acquainted with transgender people.

I couldn't help but giggle though that they pegged me as FTM and not MTF.

Next time maybe I'll show up in a skirt.

It is a shame they are not more sensitive.

Where I had my laser was at my primary care by my PA-C. Most everyone who goes there are trans. I get understanding and encouragement there. They recommended me to an electrolysis place in NJ. They treat a lot of trans and are wonderful. My initial contact, I disclosed I am trans and my preferred name. They are great and the conversation is what you would expect between 2 girls.

If you can tolerate laser then, if you need, electrolysis it is less pain but a much longer a process.

That's what I did on my third laser session.   The first one was all business, but when I came back for #2, out came the questions.

"Why are you doing this?" 
"Do you just hate shaving?" 
"Does your wife not like the stubble?"

So I told them.   It wasn't like I was the first transgender patient they had, nor was I going to be the last.

For my third session, I showed up in a dress and light makeup and everyone was super cool about it.   They congratulated me for being real and changed my name in their files.   Hello, full time!

The tech knows I'm trans. The tech is trans in fact.

I'm not showing up in makeup except maybe lip gloss or cherry chap stick next time.

As I said it really wasn't a big deal it was just funny how they thought I was FTM.

Name change. Hmm. I am really going to ask the county court house how long they take. Wearing this male name is like a yoke around my neck.

Nah it's all cool. I presented male and I didn't even mention I was trans until I talked with the tech. She is trans too but passes very well. So yeah they would gender me male obviously. The funny part is they thought I was FTM.

They are pretty awesome and the best part is my face is not swollen like it is with electrolysis. I just want to get it under control for going FT in summer.
