Another vote for Braun Silk-épil 7 ... Let's say it's not the most pleasant thing ever, but it's worth the pain compared to constant shaving. Until I will be amazingly rich and be able to afford laser for arms/legs, this will have to do it.   

Electro for my face, and funny enough I just ordered the Braun Silk Epil right before this topic was created--I'm tired of shaving.

I pluck my face with a good quality tweezer (tweezerman - worth the investment) and use an epilator for legs and tummy. I hate shaving but will do it if I'm desperate.  I do shave my underarms though in the winter if I am uninvolved I hardly do any hair removal at all except for my face.

I was just lurking, yet somehow you girls managed to convince me. I just ordered the Braun SE 7 - 7681 epilator, which is apparently God's gift to mankind's hair removal needs, at least if the glowing Amazon reviews are to be believed 

I'm fairly excited, but not entirely sure what to expect. I assume the end result is similar to waxing? Here's to hoping I won't cry and sissy out at the first sign of pain.. but the thing is fairly expensive, so that'll probably help me get through it.. lol.

The more tweezers the epilator has the better,  don't panic about the rash it causes as by next morning it will be gone. I get severe eczema & the rash has no bad or long term effect

Fully agreed, rash appears in about 2 hours and disappears after about 12 on average, the rash does not irritate me at all... Shower / bath then moisturize.

How noisy is the Braun Silk Epil?  I have an epilator that works great, but is super loud, and am considering getting a new one for my lighter body hair.  I love my at home laser kit, but it can be tedious, and doesn't work on lighter hair.  Also I heard you can't pluck, epilate, or tweeze an area you are lasering...[emoji24]

The silk epil, had mine for a long while now, maybe 4 years, is not silent, had a Philips, I think, before that was quite noisy... The Silk Epil Xpressive has a reasonable level noise but is mainly because of the vibrating guard that, they reckon, relieves some of the discomfort just before the "plucking".... the guard can be removed, I just have not bothered.

I have lighter hair too... and light skin, I observe similar to yours.... there is some mix of darker hair, so Laser effect for me would be very limited... but will still get a home unit, as I am sure it will help, even if not clear... and of course once paid for, it can be used at will  BTW I'm not lasering at all yet, no income stream, so things on hold slightly 

Hmmm thought the not plucking, epilating etc was just before and after treatments... hmmmm

I'm getting laser hair removal done on my neck, chest, and abdomen. Works great but for heaven's sake, if you get it, spend the extra few bucks to get numbing cream. Anti androgens also help. I'm lucky and only need shave my legs once a week.

I started with electro on my face but I'm doing laser to speed things up. My arms And legs I wax. I go diy and use the strips.

Philips Satin Perfect Deluxe HP6576/50

I really like the built in light.  It helps a lot more than I would have guessed, even when I'm in a brightly lit bathroom!  It is NOT particularly quiet! -- I would imagine that it is similar in noise level to others, but this is the only one I tried.

This version comes with attachments that I've tried but don't use anymore.  I think there is a cheaper option of this same unit without attachments.  I'd recommend that.

One good piece of advice I got was to get waxed, THEN start epilating weekly when you start to see come hair come back. As others have said, it hurts the most the first few times.  But if you wax first then you kinda get past the extra pain involved in those first few times since you will be dealing with less hair at a time.

I now have an easier body-hair removal routing than my wife -- this is after using the epilator for about a year AND being on HRT for about 6 months.

I find that the eplilator still leaves some very fine hairs behind, but I only see these with the built in light and can't feel them.  I have the hardest problem with the tops of my thighs.  This is the one place that I still feel rough and stubbly. I think it is because my pants wear down the hair there and it is always too short for the epilator.  I'm curious if other people have this problem?

I used to LOVE Braun Silk-epil. I used it for years. It works well with all but loose or very sensitive skin, where it might damage skin. It seemed to make hair grow weaker, but when I didn't have time for epilating any more and let all hair grow back. I noticed it had not weakened the hair growth at all. It all returned as dense and thick as ever.

Then I used home laser removal Xemos W-808. Similar results, everything grows back.

Now I am considering home electrolysis, like One Touch. Or anyone, about to sell a used professional electrolysis set?

After having spent $7,000 on electrolysis for my face, then trying waxes, epilators, home electrolysis kits for my legs, having hair almost made me broke lol.
I've now come to the realization as a lot of women, shaving is a bi!$h, but it's five minutes and relatively cheap. If I win the lottery, I'll maybe consider laser/electrolysis for the legs

Epilators were not designed for Permanent hair removal, just a faster way of  tweezering, however because of what they do, there may be a tendency for root damage, but it's not guaranteed or desirable. HRT thins the hair or looses it, and turns it into fair downy hair.


Lasers are different, but work best on dark hair light skin...
Shaving is definately quicker

BTW tried tweezering my upper lip during the last week... Ouch plenty of tears... Getting nervous on Electro in future, when I can afford it.

If I get rich (or rich enough) in the future, I will definitely go for laser threatments all over where any hair still is... definitely not gonna be cheap, but hey, if I will have enough money, there is no reason why not to.. shaving, waxing, epilating isn't really fun by any means, and I have zero intentions of doing this for all my life.

I'll put a vote in for hair removal cream. I'm in no way experienced with hair removal but what I've found with the VEET cream I've been using is that it's quick, easy, painless, and my body remains smooth for around a week. I touch up areas the bottle says not to use the cream for with a razor but, for the most part, I have no complaints.

Always do a small test patch with hair removal creams, veet didn't just remove hair but it stripped away my skin leaving a patch of raw flesh. If you have any skin condition then approach with extreme caution!!
