Oh no I understand hun. But I refuse to not be heard. Sorry just in my nature. Ppl like you might just go oh well, who am I to try to change it? But ppl like me FIGHT for whats right. I get why they have stepped up the security for accounts, thats great! I get that they make money off of us, good for them! I get that they dont give two S***S about us, but nor do we them! But im an innocent honest person and i've provided evidence of that. My gender identity shouldn't merit them denying my access to whats mine (yes its their site i get that). I've jumped through their hoops and if I don't get a friggin' biscuit i'm gonna rip up the sofa!!! Those are my pictures, my words, practically the story of my life! (well since I joined in 2008) And just bc one dude says no-go doesn't mean there is no other way! I respect your blunt input but I cannot appreciate your all-is-doomed attitude love! I think its just best you understand. XOXO
I refuse to use Facebook, but I do use LinkedIn which is much the same in principal. The difference is that I need LinkedIn for work and have no real use for Facebook - its not my kind of thing. Makes the decision easy I suppose.
I don't think many people realize what they are trading when the uses these services, although the cynic in me says that it wouldn't make any difference. I'm happy to hear you do know, it was comments about Intellectual Property and irreplaceable things that had me thinking otherwise. I have a tendency to get seriously annoyed about companies taking advantage of people like this. It kind of sets me off, and and I need far less of that in my life. I've got too many problems already. I generally keep my distance from them unless they have something I really need.
I did want to use Facebook once it get some info on some trans issues but they required an ID check, and I'm keeping my trans status hidden. There's no way I'm going to disclose it and my real identity to Facebook, and no way I can fight it since I'd lose the very thing I'm fighting for. Also, its kind of hopeless fighting companies like that. People win occasionally, but I seriously need less stress in my life. Those that fight the good fight though are helping the rest of us who won't. Not sure how I feel about that really.
As to doom and gloom, I think that what all of these companies are doing is exceptionally dangerous to our way of life. Democracy's not been around that long, and I can see it not lasting too much longer. The information and power these companies are accumulating would be very dangerous in the wrong hands, and historically there's never been any shortage of people wanting power over others. I'm feeling gloomy tonight - I probably shouldn't have commented here in the first place.
