The nurse that gave me my shot jammed the needle in and pushed the hormones in as fast as she could. When she yanked the needle out I saw alot of blood and clear/yellowish liquid coming out. She then pretty much lectured me for being a sissy and kept pulling away the bandaid I was reaching for while the blood and liquid kept running out and down my leg. My biggest concern is that she didn't do the pull back check to make sure she didn't hit a vein. I know it's unlikely but could someone inform me about what would happen if a vein got testosterone in it? I'm also concerned that the mystery liquid was my testosterone coming out. Is that common? Does this mean I got a lower dose than usual due to it coming out?

Some blood and a little leakage aren't uncommon, just not desirable.  While you may have lost some of the T, it shouldn't be enough to cause a problem, especially if this ends up being a one time event. If it is repeated, ask for a different person to inject or learn to self inject.

It's not really that uncommon for nurses not to know how to do T injections correctly, especially if they're IM. They either push the stuff in way too fast which will most likely cause the muscle to be very sore afterwards or they will be willing to do the shot in a terrible place like the shoulder. Jackpot if they do both (yay, I won the jackpot in the beginning).

If your nurse is willing to take advice from a patient, you could tell her to go slower the next time but I know from experience it won't always help. :/ Then it's just better to change nurses.

Wow, she seems like a really unpleasant nurse. :-\

I had been practicing self injection under the supervision of a different nurse. When I started pushing the needle into myself this nurse grabbed it from me and took control so she could rush through it.

Grabbing it from you was bad form and worth reporting to someone.

Thank you all for the advice. I had already decided to send an email to my doctor about it but wanted to sleep off some of the anger before writing it.
