Head hair regrowth from estrogen and spiro alone?

I'm posting this for a friend, she's not with us on here.

So she's incredibly selfconscious about her receding hairline, symptoms of male pattern baldness. She's young though, early 20s. Personally, I was on finasteride before being post op, I was on it for years. I luckily experienced complete regrowth in the corners of my hairline. I mentioned it to her, but I don't want to attribute too much to too specific of things.

In my opinion it's not an exact dose of HRT that works the best, this or that surgery or surgeon that gives you the best, it's TIME. Waiting weeks, months, years for your body to change.

So was my regrowth actually due to finasteride? Or is it estrogen that's responsible for it? Was it spiro that was responsible for it? Was it a combination of everything?

These are questions her and I are exploring and would love to hear all of your thoughts on it!

I've had some pretty good re-growth so far just on Spiro and Estradiol

I couldn't tell you which of the two did it for me. I am just glad it re-grew :P

Finasteride is all you need, it's proven to work and she should start it ASAP.  I've been on the maximum dose of it before I started Spiro and E, and it helps a lot but it's no miracle.

From my experience blocking DHT (with Fin) allows hairs to grow to their potential.  It doesn't seem to restore damage to follicles, but it lets the ones that aren't completely dead grow again.

Mine is growing back on Spiro and E. Maybe I will try fin but I'm not really looking forward to taking yet another pill.

My doctor just prescribed fin for me.  I am hoping to fill in the peaks a little more than what occurred with spiro and E.  :crossesFingers:
Some people say I'm apathetic, but I don't care.

I have been on E, Spiro, and Dutasteride all of which have helped me with hair regrowth.

My T is below 20 ng/dl (low as the test goes). I am on a high dose of IM E and spiro. I also take finasteride (maximum dose). I recently called a doctor in North Carolina about hair transplants and I was told I could cut my dose in half and take it every 3 days. I will review it with my PA at my next visit. Another point I will review with my PA when the time comes is when I have and orchi or GCS I will still produce T (in very low amounts). Should Finasteride still be administered.

I had complete regrowth on estrogen and spiro. Also started hrt at early 20s, my hair is pretty thick now. You can't even tell that I had a male shaped hair line before. What's important is being proactive about hair care and especially your scalp.

I've had probably 60% of my hair loss regrown so far (16ish months on hrt and I'm 21) just on E and spiro

I'm 50 and was shiny bald.  Three years of HRT (Spiro and E plus minoxidil then an or orchi last fall) and I am almost ready to loose the wig.

To move forward is to leave behind that which has become dear. It is a call into the wild, into becoming someone currently unknown to us. For most, it is a call too frightening and too challenging to heed. For some, it is a call to be more than we were capable of being, both now and in the future.

Anthing that nearly eliminates testosterone - or more particularly DHT - will halt male pattern hair loss. A DHT inhibitor (finasteride) regrew a lot of hair on a workmate of mine who was prescribed it for a prostate condition.
Minoxidil 5% is available as generic medication and is cheap and quite effective. A weekly dermarolling has been shown in medical research to enhance the effect of minoxidil by over 3 times that of the minoxidil on its own. Dermarollers are very inexpensive (under $10)

Search ggogle for minoxidil dermaroller to find the medical research papers - they are on national institute of health (nih.gov) website - so its peer reviewed proper medical papers.

I've read in some women the use of minoxidil, especially 5% sometimes increases hair growth in face and rest of body...so just keep an eye on that, just in case...

I have been using minoxidil for 2 years as well as finasteride 28 months, hrt for 22 months and my body hair on my torso is all but gone (I just have blond micro hairs), my leg hair is sparse and light in color and count and my face hair grows at 1/2 to 1/3 the rate as before.

I noticed that since I switched from E pills to IM my head hair has been responding much more. Also, my body hair has gone down to where I am really ok with it and I have no issue at all. My T went from 22-36 ng/dl to below the test limits of 20 ng/dl since switching to IM.

I stopped micro needling about 2 months ago. I was using long needles and them applying the minoxidil which increases its effect 2000 times and I was doing that for a while when on e-pills. Since going to IM my hair has responded very well. I was really leery about micro needling and using minoxidil because it has not been tested and is not FDA approved. I was using 3mm needles and there was a good bit of blood. The head hair follicle is 5 mm from the surface.

I started using lasers (80 5 mW, not led lights) since December (5 ) months. Since using the lasers and being on IM which suppressed my T much more I noticed a lot more growth than prior.

I still need transplants but I thing 1/2 as before starting the process.

I think Jen is really on the mark. Removing T and DHT is very important to simulating dormant hair follicles.

Just my 5 cents worth.

Also, on IM, your estradiol levels most probably significantly increased which also affect scalp hair follicles.

I used finasteride and 2% nizoral shampoo which gave a lot of regrowth, but are relatively inexpensive and a good combination.
