So I've been having knee pain for a while. I quit my labor intensive job 2 months ago right as I started HRT. The same knee would hurt every so often after a long day, but I keep doing less and less physically to rest it and it keeps hurting. It's become a bit worse lately. I'm not sure what to do because I really don't want to stop hormones.
Trying to take it one day at a time :)

The symptoms of blood clots usually include swelling and pain (also redness) in one of the calves. Cramping in the calves is also sometimes associated with taking Spiro due to low sodium which sometimes is helped by increasing salt intake. Knee pain is different.

In any event, you should contact your doctor ASAP and see what they say, find out exactly what is going on. They are in a better position to help. I hope the pain subsides SOON. :)

What KayXo said. If you think you have a clot, or if you think you might have a clot, call or go to a doctor, and if at all possible rest and minimize movement until you sort things out. If it IS one, you don't want to dislodge it. (Incidentally, get in touch with a doctor  even if you are not being medically supervised. It's ok if they are not treating you regularly.)

Also, forget about worrying about whether you can continue HRT until you sort this out. A clot can be permanently debilitating or even lethal. There are alternatives for HRT that are less likely to induce clotting and these can be explored later if necessary.

That said, from what I've read, this does not sound like one. But don't trust the Internet on this.

Hi Jean,

if you have a concern then see a doctor. There could be something else going on with your knee and it sounds like it is getting worse.

Ms Grace

I cannot stress this enough... if you are concerned that you have a clot go see your doctor immediately. If it is a clot then waiting for it to "go away" or "get better" will not work. If you don't have a clot then it is of no matter. If it means you have to come off your meds for a week or two while they sort it out you will be fine, you'd have to do that for an operation anyway.

Thanks for all of the great advice. As it turned out my thigh had a weak muscle that was causing my knee to track off center. Interestingly it went away the day that I saw my doctor and now I'm able to ride my bike again to get back into shape! :)
Trying to take it one day at a time :)
