I'm three months post-op from FFS and people don't recognise me. I did not intend or expect this to happen. My own family doesn't recognise me. My sister said that she wouldn't have known it was me if she had seen me outside somewhere. And that I'll need a new picture on my id card. My hairdresser who has been my hairdresser for 10 years said that she didn't recognise me at all (while she was doing my hair, so it wasn't a 'I didn't recognise you for a sec' thing..) and that she only recognised my voice. She looked freaked out LOL.

It's the strangest thing..

I think I'm okay with not being recognised, but I gotta admit that it's weird. When I had my first consultation with my surgeon he said 'your face is feminine already'. I don't know if he says that to all the girls, but I could have interpreted his comment as maybe it's wiser to stay natural and not have surgery. I was determined to have FFS though. He asked me twice if I had FFS before. I didn't, but I did transition some years ago and sort of managed to live as me in the years that followed. The two years before FFS I could get away with only wearing some eyeliner (which is really hard to believe when I look at my surgeon's before pics now). Anyway, I never would have thought that FFS would change me this much.

Anyone else who wasn't/isn't recognised after FFS?

I just hope it will be the same for me!! I don't care about my old face.

Not being recognized would be a freebie, an unexpected bonus allowing me to start from scratch even at the places I usually go to like the supermarket, the hairdresser etc. until I move.

Well, I will pray for that!

 Interesting as I totally got the same reaction post FFS. It was eerie and it upset a lot of people as there common point of familiarity was removed over night so to speak. They had to mentally adjust and it threw them for a while. I was even genuinely confused as my sister a few times and we have a 3 inch height difference. I am 5' 9" so not that tall but taller than her. I view it as a very good development and I am glad it turned out as it did.  The dude face was not going to cut it for me and I wanted no part of being forced to stare at a feminine guy face scenario.

I met the same story too... and I didn't think into that before as well.. there are pros and cons probably, it can be useful not to be recognized by people you would prefer not to meet ( ) , but think I am still holding identity card and driver licence with my old man face, there can be a problem with the police...  ...

I faced recently one of my former close colleagues in a restaurant, she looked right into my eyes, said nothing and I read that she didn't recognize me, for sure... strange thing, I don't have to tell her about my TG condition now since I was fired from the company two months ago...

So just when I was getting used to not being recognised by people I decided to have a pedi last week. I decided to go to the same place where I had a pedi last year for the first time, so the lady who works there had only seen me once. I figured that if people who knew me all my life and people who knew me for 10 years didn't recognise me then she certainly wouldn't recognise me. So there I was not mentioning anything about having been there before etc. and there she was not showing any sign of recognition or anything else and basically just working on my feet and chit chatting. Then after half an hour or so, she suddenly asks me a question about something I told her the year before!

I so do not get this!

Maybe she recogised my style of clothing, hair, voice, or whatever. Maybe feet, lol. Or a combination of things. I mean, I guess a person is more than just a face. But if other people tell me they don't recognise me and let's say she recognised everything besides my face, then I would at least expect some kind of confused look or something? She didn't even blink an eye. Which is fine with me, but I just don't get it.. Maybe it's because I had only seen her once before so she wasn't 'used' to my old face. Also, I was wearing loads of make-up then and no make-up at all now.

Later she was talking about her kids and I mentioned something about my bf's kids and then she basically advised me to get pregnant from my bf so that we'd also have kids together I would have appreciated that advice so much more if she wouldn't have recognised me lol

Maybe she didn't recognized you and talked  about the same exact subject with someone else? I mean, if she did recognize you, she wouldn't have said that!!

Nah I'm 100% sure she recognised me, because of what she asked.

It's not like I went from unpassable to passable, so she may have said that anyway.
