I'm feeling down at the moment. I just got yelled at by my mother for an hour saying I'm throwing my life away and I'll never be successful again at anything. I'm just going to be labeled a freak by everyone and will be miserable for the rest of my life.

Help me feel better please! Tell me about your successes as a trans person.

Well , I'm alive and happy

I'm tall, have excellent legs, look fantastic in a mini skirt, and don't care about the stares anymore. I get complements all the time from nearly everyone. I count that as a success.

My biggest success as a trans person ... I've learned to accept and even love myself.  I no longer let people who I used to fear, the ones who have tried to control me with emotional extortion dictate how I live.

It hurts when people berate and degrade you.  Please remember that you are a PERSON not just a trans-person

I've kept my job, friends, and family, and in fact am doing even better at my career (and making more friends!) than pre-transition. Turns out not being a miserable jerk makes people like you.

I'm so sorry you had to hear that, and from your mother no less. But it's not true, and you are NOT doomed to misery.

It does get better. I've lost everything from kids to siblings and cousins to parents and everything I thought I loved, boats quads, campers house and even my jobs. Family can be very hard on the ones they love most, my mother and I are starting to finally have a real relationship now. It hasn't been easy by any means but keep trying. I think mothers get scared for their child's safety and well being. Since my mother has saw me happy and living my life as I want and with a husband in my life she has become more attentive and less stressed. We can actually sit and have a mother and daughter talk I've always yearned for. You may lose close so called friends but will make better meaningful friends later on.

* I'm doing my job as well as I ever have and authentically
* I'm more outgoing because I like myself better
* It's so much easier in social situations (which I always have had trouble with)
* I'm closer than ever to my daughter
* Gender euphoria! Yay!

every day I wake up and like the person I am.at work I'm accepted or unnoticed and the vast majority of patients either dont know,dont say or dont care.i waited for too long to be myself and lived for too many others expectations and when that stopped my life improved immeasurably.i hope yours can do the same. xxx

Ok you asked for success stories try this:

I'm over 30 years postop.
I hold two honours degrees and I'm currently studying for a third.
I've worked as a materials scientist and test engineer on the space shuttle.
I've been a BBC VT engineer and operations supervisor in charge of their archive preservation
I've worked with the UK armed services.
I've been the information systems director for a major UK charity.
I've worked as a consulting engineer on a major european aerospace project.
Now I'm training to be a doctor at one of the UK's foremost medical schools.
In my spare time I was married for 25 years (widowed in 2013). We lived in a very nice house and fostered two children.
I built a property empire, which sadly I lost in the crash of 2007/8
In the past I've been an auxillary minister in my local church, and I've played an active part in my local community.

Oh and I've done all these things while openly admitting my trans history.

So... throwing your life away? I dont really think so! People will say all sorts of stuff to try and dissuade you, mainly based on their own lack of information about trans people and diversity.

The trans community is as diverse as any, but most people don't notice those who are scucessful because we have more power to control how our lives are seen. So the ones that hit the headlines are usually the less fortunate.

Sure some trans people are wastrels and will never amount to anything etc, just as some CIS people will never amount to anything too. People do vary in attainment and ability but thats not because they are trans. Thats just humanity.

The biggest success story for me has been being able to live and love myself so much now that I'm able to love someone else too.

There are so many success trans person, I seen a success business transwoman, the best sell person in Asia is a Taiwanese Transwoman she use to sell 2000 computers in 1 hours, I know success models ,signer and actress. Alot of trans computer and science genius. and many many that success. and you could be one.

Me myself after 10 years of working hard trying to prove myself, I graduate as the one of the best of my class and I have move to three different companies in the past 10 years and I have the very good recommendation letter from all my ex-employer. and I consider the best in the field I do and everyone in the industrial know that.

I know, when people see me as trans, they will look down on me as the first impression. And that the energy that push me to do things better than average. I also look up to person who success too.
