I have to see a psychiatrist to start T in a few weeks. My counselor gave me the go-a-head but I need 2 referrals for my endocrinologist. I'm worried that the psychiatrist won't "see me" as transgender or whatever like a few people I know in life. I'm usually not easily worried so I don't know why this makes me worry so much. What kind of questions do they ask? What happens if he denies me would I just see a different one?

I'd say just relax... try to be yourself...

and there should be the possibility to see another one.

I'm not usually worried about things either, so its always a surprise when it happens. For me its when something is really important, which I'm sure this must be for you.

Assuming there's other psych's available in your area, you should just be able to find another one if this one's no good, or perhaps even find another endo or doctor who doesn't require two referrals.

Well you might even tell your endo that you have been with your therapist for quite some time... so it was before any new regs... so its a well thought out decision...
do you think some kind of bargaining for one letter would be successful ? :)

And, well, you might ask your therapist for other endos which might accept one letter...

Be honest, open, and yourself. I would say try to relax, but I know that is easier said done. They are there to help you. Hugs

If that's the exact way she put it then it sounds like there's some that don't require two letters.

Not sure what trustworthy is supposed to mean, but it could just mean someone with the same views she has. They are doctors after all so they can't be too bad (I don't really believe that). Worst case you could try to find them, and once you're on HRT its going to be a lot easier to find another doctor, especially once you start physically changing.

Another time just subtly ask who you should stay away from...

So no need to worry just yet.
