Hi I am 18 years old trans woman I don't start HRT yet I am researching about it, but everyone says even on wikipedia , It is rare to breast exceed b cup size and HRT doesn't affect face so I don't want to HRT just for emotional or mentally changes .. why should i use this ? I have already feminine fat disruption so I need more why should I use hormones if it is not really affectful on body ??

Body changes are genetically predispositioned... One can start at 18 and have close to zero effects and changes... and someone else starts at 45 and have the most amazing changes and results from HRT alone.

You say you already have feminine fat disruption. I don't know what that means... but if you feel like you don't need any help from hormones, either emotional or physical, than it would better if you don't start with HRT.

I honestly don't know where this myth about being "rare" to exceed a B cup comes from.

I know perhaps twenty transwomen in real life. NONE of them is less than a C - and many of us are much bigger than that. None of us have had implants either. I'm an F cup - and no I haven't had an breast enhancement either - its all me.

Now in many cases it took us five to ten years to reach final size - and almost all of us transitioned before the age of 25, but anecdotally I also know of older transitioners who have eventually reached impressive sizes all on their own... it just takes longer for someone older because their body works slower.

So really this idea that larger sizes are rare just has to a myth.

You might not believe it, but the mental changes are a hugely important part for many of us. I will almost certainly exceed the B cup point you refer to as well. So many factors play into that. Everyone's mileage on HRT is different. Realistic expectations are important when it comes to HRT. Good luck and Hugs

I think rare to have greater than a B cup is way overstated.  It does vary greatly.  Beginning young seems to improve results, but not always.  HRT does not affect bone structure, but it certainly affects the appearance of your face.  With the change in skin and change in fat distribution, it does change your face.  The skin changes and the sent changes are significant.

Even if I had zero changes, I would still do HRT for the mental affects.

Wikipedia is not allowed for research papers for a reason - it is usually not very accurate.

That being said, please read above this - your mileage will vary, and it will take a lot of time. How long did cisgendered puberties last??? Exactly.

Look... there are no guarantees thats why people are careful.
Imo they write this way so not to give too high expectations.

There was another discussion about facial changes. Someone said they would not be much given same light, hair style etc.
But this is unrealistic.
Of course people use bangs to cover the forehead... shape their eyebrows in a feminine way... their skin changes, pores getting closed...
additionally alone using a nourishing product on the skin gives a groomed impression...
there are ways to use lipstick to make the mouth appear wider...

Imo people change additionally posture and expression...
and for example there are people who have reported changes to hand size, to feet size, to height... of all ages.

Imo you should look for a good gender therapist to help you and guide you along... to find out what you want, and support you...
if they are not supportive look for another.
And there are support groups.

I think my face does look quite a bit different quite honestly. It might just be from weight-loss. I've probably lost 40-50 lbs since last year. I was over 200 lbs.

Personally I love the way my mind feels now. It took a while for it to happen to me. Most people say it happens immediately. I also see some things in a different way than I used to.

At only 18 you should stop all the wrong hormones & get on Estrogen young girl. HRT does make a tremendous change & improvement to our bodies & mental state. At your young age you can become a beautiful almost normal "cis" woman.

Its not limited to 18, but younger age usually helps.

B cup is my size now, but I am happy with that....

Agreeing with all, there is no given in this, some do better some not, laws of nature...

I started real late around 50... took me 5 years to fill a B Cup, after that just a little more rounding...

As far as face goes, yes the face does change, not structurally but skin tone, fatty deposits etc.. also neck thins a bit as does all muscle tone.

The younger you start transition, on the whole, the better your results can be.

For me it was the mental and psychological effects of starting HRT that were the most valuable and life saving.  'T' made me feel as if my brain was being slowly murdered and starting HRT was like coming home after wandering lost in the wilderness.  Don't discount the non physical changes that HRT brings about because they make a huge difference to your sense of self and well-being.
Physical changes will happen at a slower pace as your body adjusts and tissues grow and change so patience is important.  You are young so there is every reason to expect that you will make a good transition.

Everything depends on the person, of course, but the "before and after" thread has some truly amazing transformations.

For me personally, I couldn't pass as a guy after a few months on HRT no matter how hard I tried, and I too think the B cup thing is a myth - or possibly a misunderstanding. Cup size varies by band size, so a 40B has the same cup volume as a 38C and 36D, for example. That means that the bigger the rib cage = the smaller the letter of the cup will be, but the *size* is the same. If the average trans woman has a rib cage only an inch or two bigger than the average cis woman, her average bra size will be one cup size smaller.

(Oh, and I'm professionally measured at 38DD, which is another way of saying 38E and the same cup volume as 36DDD/F.)

Some very interesting comments in this thread.  I will start HRT next month at age 57.  I have tempered my expectations according to what I have read.  I am hoping for softer skin, less body hair, and less upper body musculature. Boobs are probably not going to happen at my age, but I can live with that.  More importantly, I hope there will be a mental benefit,  some feeling of completeness, or less yearning, or something.  I just want to be happy with myself, for a change. 

I wonder if the measure of testosterone prior to beginning the regimen is a factor?

If that is the case, the affects for me may be muted too, since I have high enough T that it caused an early onset of male pattern baldness. (pretty sure that's what did it anyhow)

I'm 52 and have been on HRT for about a year. I think it's had a pretty dramatic effect on my face, even at my advanced age  I still weigh about the same as I did in "that" picture on the left (blech!)

Wow, you're right, there is a very noticeable difference!  Well that's encouraging, as is your bust, lol.  That's after one year?  I would be very conflicted about that.  On one hand I would be delighted to have such breast development, and on the other hand I would be freaking out about hiding them when I go to work, since I present as a male.

However, facial changes are something I would welcome, and are a major reason I want to start HRT.
