Ms Grace

Have I ever seen a more masculine body and broader shoulders than yours?

Yes. Yes I have.

Don't panic or get ahead of yourself worrying about those details, HRT can change a lot.

Yes, my body has broader shoulders than yours. The trick is not to use form fitting garments and stay way from straps/sleeveless tops. Losing weight to get in the recommend weight for you body also helps. I am 5'14" and my weight should be between 140 and 190 pounds but my best weight is about 170 pounds. My body carries the weight on the tummy and spare tire so it's weight I don't mind losing.

Regardless of how masculine you looked prior to transitioning, I wouldn't recognize the old you from your current picture.
there are all kinds of body types in both men and women. I think sometimes we are just more sensitive to how we look(ed) before because WE know.

I used to do a lot of work on cars and had huge shoulders and arms. HRT has pretty much taken care of that  Loading a 35lb jug of cat litter into my grocery cart has become quite the struggle now. I am no longer afraid to show off my shoulders (see my avatar pic).

Oh heavens yesssssss. I'm built like a football player. 6 foot 4 inches 380 pounds. I started my journey Jan 08 2015 at 420 pounds. That's 5 months on HRT. My shoulders have shrunk a lot since then. Don't worry about it.

Thank God you posted that. I'm 6' 4" and 362, same build. You've given me hope. :-)

To move forward is to leave behind that which has become dear. It is a call into the wild, into becoming someone currently unknown to us. For most, it is a call too frightening and too challenging to heed. For some, it is a call to be more than we were capable of being, both now and in the future.

I feel like the biggest build around http://imgur.com/lWuVWYm

Let's talk about the ratio, rather than the absolute width. It should be fair regardless of sex/gender.

My waist-to-shoulder width ratio is 0.575. Anybody else having a smaller ratio?

Darn it, Barbie, you got me started. My own shoulder-to-waist ratio is .72. I'm not sure that's really the best measure to go by, though, since all I'd have to do to break even would be to gain some weight in the waistline. Comparing same-size frontal photos of several glamorous celebrities I think you'd be better off comparing the shoulders to the hips. And the waist-hip ratio is probably more important than either in achieving a pleasing feminine appearance.

I did a quick survey using some celeb pics in my photo editor and came up with this list:

Who........               Waist-to-Shoulder...Hip-to-Shoulder...Waist-to-Hip

Me                        .72                           .87                         .88
Kelly Ripa              .73                          .82                          .89
Jessica Simpson     .68                          .87                          .79
Gwyneth Paltrow    .65                          .85                          .76
Jennifer Aniston     .68                          .84                          .81

I like to watch TV host Kelly Ripa's fashions a lot because she's long waisted like me we're practically silhouette twins (though facially not even close). Anyway, I don't think the waist to shoulder ratio comparison tells much since Gwyneth Paltrow has a relatively wide ratio, but her shoulders still appear quite narrow due to the ratio of her width to height. Jessica Simpson's ratios look close to Gwyneth's but if you see them side-by-side you'll see their figures look nothing alike. You could visually minimize the appearance of wide shoulders by just wearing high heels to look taller.

As for the OP, I don't think your shoulders are unduly wide. Lots of women (both TG and otherwise) have dealt with similar figure issues and managed to look just great. One thing I've learned from my celebrity watching is that you can greatly improve most any figure issue with careful fashion selection. Don't worry about this. Do what you can with it and enjoy life.

Oh. Thanks for detailed comparisons. I measured further, and the approximate ratios were:

barbie~~              .58                          .81                          .74 (circumference ratio)

Yes. Definitely I have relatively wide shoulders compared with ordinary women here.

Gosh. You may have  a better "onion" than Gwyneth Paltrow. Hollywood could be looking for your. However, I didn't to Kim Kardashian, but I'm sure her waist/hip ratio would put us all to shame.

Yes. The hip size of Kim Kardashian is exceptionally great.

Her waist-to-hip ratio is 26/38 inch = 0.684.

yes,I've seen many examples of broader shoulders.Your shoulders look average to me..and HRT will solve fat redistribution.

Too bad we're not like cats or other fast running predators..evolution blessed them
"The cat's shoulder is a feat of muscle, in that the forelimb is connected to the rest of the body only by muscle. Unlike our collarbone, which connects the shoulder and breastbone, the cat's vestigial clavicle floats, anchored in place by muscle. The shoulder's freedom of movement effectively lengthens the cat's stride and enhances its range of motion."

Hence no problem with "broad shoulders" :D

..some people have this

Individuals with cleidocranial dysplasia usually have underdeveloped or absent collarbones (clavicles). As a result, their shoulders are narrow and sloping, can be brought unusually close together in front of the body, and in some cases the shoulders can be made to meet in the middle of the body.

It's funny-- back in the 1980s it was actually fashionable for women to appear to have prominent shoulders. High fashion clothes almost always included shoulder pads. That time is past, but I don't think shoulder width is a very bothersome issue with femininity. I've seen a lot of shoulder women who look quite hot. And you can always de-emphasize you shoulders by wearing vertical lines and darker tones toward the top.
