Um, my grandmother lives in London, but I'm sure that's not what you had in mind! ;)

Oh Wow that's fantastic. Do any of you ever back to London?

Do you all like London?

I was in K-W over the weekend, but didn't make it as far as London.

My girlfriend during university went to Western, so I have lots of nostalgic memories of London. Nothing trans-related, though.

What's your sense of the city's level of acceptance? It struck me as a pretty progressive, liberal town, but one with a conservative undercurrent. How are you finding London for accessibility of services?

Well, since I am not transitioning as of yet. I really don't use any support groups.

My so called friends would banish me if they ever found out. So even though I am on HRT
I have no intentions of telling any one.

I actually did tell me girlfriend who doesn't understand a single thing about this community.
So I just do my own thing and move along as nothing has changed.

For the city, Well. I was in Harveys one day and a Trans lady was in line and she got all kinds of negative looks. If I wasn't with my GF I would have talked to her. Kind of attractive woman too.

But I don't think any community makes any kind of difference, it's the people in it.
A Community doesn't make for a happy place, only the singular people do....

I was more a fan of London before all the sprawling housing developments started up.  The "pick your own" farms pretty much disappeared and a lot of the countryside was consumed.  I used to go there at least twice a year but now I hardly have the time.  Also my grandma doesn't know about my transition and my mom would prefer to keep it that way.  If I do go again I'm not sure how that's going to be handled.

There's a few nice pockets of park and wilderness there that I appreciate.  I used to spend hours roaming forest and bog when I was a kid as the 'tomboy' I was!

Yes the city has changed dramatically.
I remember all the pastures that were inside London, they are all gone
in place for parking and housing. YUK

  Remember the original "Wally World"?

Violet, the Wally World went broke, East Park Golf Gardens bought the infrastructure and re-installed it next to their golf course on HamRoad.

London... nice town, love the music festivals in the summer months, the theatre, the art, and how diverse the culture here has become. The rainbow community here has made great strides in the last 40 years, and although there will always be haters, we have a lot more allies now :)

chloeD33, Petawawa is about 8 hours by car from here.

I'm about 5.5 hours north in Sudbury. Always happy to talk. :)
Started HRT in October, 2014. Orchiectomy in August, 2015. Full-time in July, 2016!

If you need an understanding ear, feel free to PM me.

I lived there when I was a little kid.  Those winters are brutal compared to Southern California!  I'm guessing I wouldn't recognize it these days.

I most certainly do remember Wally World. What a blast the super tall fast slide was and I loved the lazy river...

I am from Sudbury....

I'm from Ann Arbor, Michigan.  About 3 hours away.  Does it count if I am from over the border?
Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than the ones you did. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.

I actually went to Ann Arbor Michigan University as a Co-op learning experience 26 years ago, while I went to school in Toronto. I think we stayed in the dorms...

My memory is horrible and really can't remember any of the trip.

I never made it Wally World, but the discussion is making me nostalgic for Kitchener's late, great Pioneer Sportsworld, since replaced with a generic commercial power center.  :-\

I also went to sportsworld.

It was after a wedding. We all went there for the day after going out for breakfast at this super shady diner.

I ended up having food poisoning.

Wow! I was in school there back then.  Who knows, maybe we passed each other on the sidewalk!
