That moment when you take an online test and honestly it spells out the stuff I feared and what my biggest concern is.

Your Raw Score is: 400, which indicates that overall you are Androgynous

Your appearance is Masculine

Your brain processes are mostly that of a Androgynous person.

You appear to socialize in a feminine manner.

You believe you have major conflicts about your gender identity.

You indicated your were born Male.

ANALYSIS:
Male to Female Transsexual in doubt about your ability to successfully transition.
NOTES:

Your Answers indicate your psychological state has likely prevailed since you were quite young.

I do have a lot of fears about successful transition: masculine face, tonnes of bodyhair, muscular and stocky, narrow hips, wide shoulders, prominent brow and adams apple... then theres the whole fertility stuff that scares me :S Thing is for a while now I cant stop thinking about transitioning

You could have a look here, and the link there:
https://www.susans.org/forums/index.php/topic,188309.msg1674885.html#msg1674885

You could take this step by step, trying easy reversible steps and seeing how they make you feel.

It can be fun to explore.

And you might look for a good therapist to help you along.

Its a process. I'd say take your time, but keep at it, and just take the next step.

The SAGE test is not scientific in any way, shape, or form. It doesn't prove anything.

But it obviously has you thinking about possibilities. The same happened to me when I took this test and other similar tests - I had never considered the possibility that I could have (in my case) female thinking patterns. It explained a lot of my past, and that started me on the road to where I am now.

I believe that it would be worth your time to come in off the ledge and explore this with a gender therapist. Operating in an information vacuum will only upset you with fear and worry. A good gender therapist can help you work out what is really going on, and then if warranted you can take appropriate action.

I was a 500 on the SAGE test and it pretty much nailed me as someone who should definitely consider SRS.

The way I view it is there is only test that counts is Real Life Exposure. You start out with the view I can't do this and I will never pass and end up with I did it, I do pass and I am happy. That year or two gets rid of the past and helps you find the real you. There is no way a test taken in a small portion of a day can do that.

I've always suspected I was leaning more towards transitioning than i wanted to admit, seeing this reflected back in a tes, even though its a questionable one, kinda made it dawn on me harder that Im probably fooling myself feeling that I can just suck it up as I am

I can't begin to imagine the damage that SAGE test has done over the years.

Fortunately, it is usually not hard to diagnose yourself as trans, but SAGE tests all sorts of crap that has nothing to do with whether you're trans or not, then purports to provide diagnostic recommendations.

None of these things are impediments to transition. They might (or might not) have an impact on passability, but it's OK to transition if you don't pass.

This is about 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 times more accurate than the SAGE in diagnosing you as trans.
Have you read my short story The Eve of Triumph?

i actually just got done talking it and it showed i was androgynous, which is pretty accurate.

For those of you who are troubled by the SAGE test, I took it and when the questions required it, I answered them as if I were early in my cross living period. Don't forget that I have had no regrets about surgery 33 years ago.

Oh wow, the SAGE test... Why not just bust out the COGIATI while we're at at?

Yeah, umm, pseudoscience at best, and I'm being generous here.   Lots of really dumb, archaic gender stereotyping as well.  My test results came back as "probable transgender".   In other news, water is wet and the sky is blue. (Film at 11?)  My (cis)wife took it for sh*ts and giggles and came out as "androgynous".   ::)

OK, folks, here's a much more accurate test that won't eat up nearly as much time:

Do you feel male, female, neither, both or a mixture of the two?

I prefer the WHaPoCAY (Which Harry Potter Character Are You?) Test.*

But seriously, don't let some old test, fairly roundly debunked by the sounds it, be your guiding light. This is the first I've heard of it and I certainly never needed it to tell me what I already knew. If you're not interested in transitioning then you won't, if you are then the idea will gnaw at you until it finds resolution. Better to try talking to a counsellor or therapist about your gender identity and explore the issues than bother with the test.

(*I'm Hermione, of course - a little Miss Know it all smarty pants.)

Darn it, you're right! That took hardly any time.  :)

Never tried it before. got a 525, which isn't surprising at all.

I took the SAGE Test as well just because I was curious about it, and while it did place me where I feel I am I can say that having studied psychology some while in university this test isn't scientific in almost any way. It relies heavily on stereotypes. For instance, I identify as female and think, feel, and socialize very much in a feminine way, but I in no way enjoy sewing yet this test uses sewing as something to evaluate your gender identity. It also asks a lot of questions about your current physical body which have little to no bearing on how you feel mentally. Also the test seems to have some fixation on people finding certain things arousing which sometimes may be something a transgender person experiences but it isn't always. So what I'm saying is don't fret over the results of this test, but if it gets you thinking that's okay and you may want to discuss those thoughts with a therapist. Also always keep in mind that even the most scientific ways of looking at how the brain works and why we feel as we do are just educated guesses because the human mind is very difficult to analyze, so really the only person who can tell you how you're feeling is you.

I think some of the readers here are missing my point. I tried it out of curiosity, but for a while since I even thought about trying it for a laugh part of me feels like I've been putting off transition and keep telling myself 'I just need to do X Y Z and I can cope' but Im realizing now, after years of councelling, CBT and othet therapies and medicine, maybe this cant be avoided. I am doubting my ability to transition but seeing it there is a massive slap in the face and it's kinda bringing my suspicions home harder...

maybe I cant stay a male and 'just deal with it' like Ive been telling myself I should be able to

My second therapist didn't see how it would be possible for me to become a woman and he was with the UCLA gender program before he saw me. You need to fight the doubt that you have and give it a try if only part time at first. That is the only test that is important and you are the only one grading it so be a fair grader.
The biggest battle we face is in our own head. The rest of the transition takes effort and is time-consuming but is is much easier that over coming the limits we place on ourself.

I took the test, got somewhere in the 600's. As I was taking it, I could tell where some of the answers were leading. And on questions where none of the answers applied, I went for the one that I assumed skewed female. At first that gave me pause, "Oh no, I won't get accurate results." Then I gave it a little more thought, if I want to be a woman so bad that I'm skewing results on some decade old, debunked internet test to gain mental support for the idea, that's a clearer sign than anything the test could tell me.

Also, those little flash in the pan picture questions kept screwing up my browser. Not cool.

I just took it and got a 505....

Do I get an 'A'? Did I (pardon the pun) "pass"?
  •

Devlyn

I keep getting a "404: Gender not found" error.  >:-)
